most colombians i have met seem to think america is obviously the best country for them to live in..it is filled with richness and it would be great to live there...what they forget is that if you become ill in america the support you get is limited and you have to pay for all your own medical treatment....there were people from 9/11 that had to leave the country because they could not afford to get medical treatment in their own country...and no it was not that they just wanted to get the treatment cheaper they were pushed in to ahving to leave as there was no other way they could get it....in most european countries every thing is taken care of...benefit systems in the USA also have a shelf life..if you look at canada it has a much lower crime rate because it hasa good system that helps people properly..the usa is a sink or swim place similar to colombia

miamimike says on May 11, 2008, 03:17: I ask myself, living here in Miami, the same question. A Cuban family whose house I go to often related their American Journey via Madrid, Spain. The whole family(parents, 3 sons) left Cuba in the early 80s and went to Spain. There, they got a great hand up in the form of subsidized Medical care through Spain's Universal Healthcare system. They received free public transit passes as well as Subsidized Rent. No Langauge barrier as they have in the USA. After 4 years they decided to come to the Epicenter of all things Cuban, Miami, Florida. Fast forward 20 years, the One son who remained behind in Spain with his Wife is now a District Supervisor for UPS and earns big $$$. His wife, who had a Teaching degree from a Cuban University, easily revalidated her Cuban University courses in Spain and is a Teacher cetified to teach in Spain. Very transparent process. Now, the Boys in Miami who never learned English, are relegated to living in Opa Locka, a not so toney barrio in NW Miami where Gunshots are heard every night. The 2 brothers who live in Miami have Minimum salary jobs like School Bus drivers, jitney drivers, ect. And they do not speak English so they are stuck in these crummy jobs. I see many others coming from south america to Miami and they are stuck in the same boat as these 2 brothers. No English and to get a Job of any substance, even here in Miami, you need to know English. Seems like Spain offers a much brighter future for Latinos over 25(due to NO langauge barrier) as the major obstacle, learning the Langauge is a moot issue. Not to mention, healthcare and public transportation are not problems like they are here in Miami. As my Idol below says People do Tom Fool crazy things and are fooled,,, Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." GW Bush |

tonyblair says on May 11, 2008, 05:07: i agreee with u mm most people dont think things out and we are all guilty of that....i think people actually need to be taught how to think including myself...as to look at any thing in life and make decisions you need to look at it from many different perspectives to come to a good conclusion...the future for intelligent people is to from groups that can together think things out about the world and in theri personal lifes which will be a catalyst for intelligence and what real intelligence is all about.....and knowing that intelligence is not university degrees or any thing else but the ability to be able to think which is a skill that has to be constantly learned formerly pow wow then american..wether you think you can or cant you are right |

Rikito says on May 11, 2008, 09:01: I am not stalking anyone and stop accusing me of this. I will not be intimidated by someone who feels they have greater rights or presence. This is the second time you have done this. You do this kind of crap to other people when they don't agree with you. I don't look for this Troll in any way. When he makes a post like he normally does people need to know. It is not life that matters, but the journey. |

tonyblair says on May 11, 2008, 14:43: true kalder but the belief that a degree is a sign of intelligence is completely unfounded....most employers these days have no interest in uni degrees as they have seen too many idiots walk straight out of uni formerly pow wow then american..wether you think you can or cant you are right |
|
kalder says on May 12, 2008, 00:15: It's not completely unfounded. To get a good degree from (say) one of the top 50 UK universities requires plenty of intelligence. "kalder- have you ever had a woman?"--Sam Salmon |

gringoloid says on May 12, 2008, 07:09: rikito..........you might as well understand that this is a site run by european socialists for the purpose of denigrating americans. if americans did 1% of what the europeans do they would be kicked off.

Desideria (Moderator) says on May 12, 2008, 07:20: Do you really believe in what you just said, gringoloid? That the purpose of this site is to denigrate Americans? Or are you just stirring the pot to create controversy? "None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free." —Johann Wolfgang von Goethe |
|
Desideria (Moderator) says on May 12, 2008, 07:22: Kalder, so it is indeed. We talk about seven or possibly nine different types of intelligence now. It kind of makes those old-fashioned IQ tests totally obsolete. "None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free." —Johann Wolfgang von Goethe |

Desi and Kat1 have close family members that are long term residents, if not citizens of the US, so it seems kind of odd to say the site owner and two moderators from Europe have an automatic anti-US bias.
