White religious leaders really hate America

Thank god Obama did not associate with these hateful religious leaders, he'd really be in trouble. Or would he? I know some other people who are quite friendly with them. Strange how nobody asks about their commitment to the US nor do they question their faith in God. And Catholics better really beware of McCain.

So John Hagee's shit smells bad.....

Does that make Reverend Wright's shit smell good?

Shit is shit is shit.

Lcacique says on Mar 21, 2008, 10:20:

I am simply broadening the spotlight, LDW.

In addition, what Reverend Wright said about 9/11 is far less offensive. He simply said that the US has carried out terrorism abroad and now it has come home. There is logic there whether you agree or not. On the other hand, blaming 9/11 on the ACLU, homosexuals, and abortion is pretty extreme and according to this line of thought: God must despise America because he let all of these innocent people die just because of the aforementioned causes. In other words God made it happen, not our actions throughout history. Maybe you disagree with both claims...that is absolutely cool. I do not care. I'm just making an observation.

With respect to Hagee, here is a man that hates Catholics. Well, some people might want to know about that and his association with McCain. He states clearly his disgust of Catholics. Again, this is just an observation. It is not meant to condone anything about Reverend Wright.

I simply think it is interesting that Wright gets so much attention for his comments, yet there are others who have said the same thing (if not worse) in the religious community. Nobody seems concerned that these men have strong ties to officials. That is it. I am not trying to discern whose shit smells worse, nor is it my intention to attack McCain. Some people may be bothered by his relation to such a man, others won't give a damn. I just think far too much attention has been placed on Wright and Obama when there are other such relationships that are pretty much ignored. Why? I do not have the answer...

Hitler? Catholicism?....
hummm. Never saw a tie there,... thought provoking.
this guy... haggey... is scarey...

this throws some interesting controversy into the entire scheme of things, withMcCain, vs Obama or Hillary.
Is this thing going to be over after today or this weekend, as for the Democratic candidate determination??

jajj.. isn't America a fun place?
sometimes.... not.

g_s, this will not create any controversy except here on PBH possibly. Nobody will care about McCain's links to Hagee.

Here's one news source covering Wright's sermons:

The US is a white nation. And racism still exists. Implying that the KKK is running the show is silly (and offensive to most white ears, since many people are not racist and we'd all like to believe that racism does not exist. Plus we've come a long way), but clearly whites are still in a position of privilege and other ethnic groups are not. There is still a lot of work to be done in this country with respect to equality. Hell, the church worships a white Jesus...and Jesus was not white.

Wright says God Damn the US with respect to the fact that it kills innocent people...I have heard that kind of talk in a lot of Churches.

9/11: Wright points out that the US has committed terrorist acts without batting an eye (what kind of God would bless that?) and that now someone has done the same back. That is quite different from blaming gays and lesbians. That does not mean that he is correct, but I can at least understand why he would say such a thing. It makes sense that because we have been involved in such things (and more importantly, because we are perceived as an imperialist nation...right or wrong) that some group may take a shot at us. I can wrap my head around that. God removing a shield around the US because girls enjoy kissing girls and boys dig kissing boys is a little more difficult to imagine. Homosexuals exist in all Christian countries, why didn't God take it out on them as well? Plus, that reasoning implies that God is taking it out on the US. I find that thought a little more terrifying.

With respect to his anti-jew statements, I have only heard him condemn terrorist actions against Palestine. Maybe he has said worse things, I do not know. I do know that he has associated with Louis Farrakhan who has said some ugly things in his time.

With respect to his Church being separatist: Absolute lies. Anybody with a background in Liberation Theology would understand this and in reality Wright's church is for the liberation of all oppressed people no matter their color. Whites are welcomed with open arms into the Church as well as people of all other ethnic backgrounds. I go to school with a few white students that are from Chicago and attend Trinity in Chicago.

aztec: I am not trying to save anyone. I do not think I could help nor do I think he needs it. Anyway it is not my intention to help Obama or Wright, it is my intention to broaden the spotlight as I said before. It seems hypocritical to judge Wright (and therefore, Obama) so harshly if the other religious leaders and the officials that they are associated with do not receive a similar judgement. That is all that I am saying.

Gawd.....what a dog's breakfast this whole thing is. I will be able to cast an absentee ballot in November, and as things stand right now, it is a matter of choosing one of the 3 still left that offends me the LEAST.

Right now, that would be Hillary. If she does not get the nomination, then I will probably have nobody to vote for.
