VALENTINES DAY

Just thought I'd put this up for all you PBH'ers.

What is the most crazy/creative/romantic thing you have DONE for someone on Valentines?

Or the most crazy/creative/romantic thing that someone has DONE for you?

No Political statements on this post. Thanks

OK CG with all respect, do people in Colombia that do not work in the flower business know what valentines day means? (Because I was hoping to save about 100k)

What I have, I do not want to lose, but Where I am I do not want to stay, but those I love, I do not want to leave, but those I know I no longer want to see, but Where I die, I do not want to go;I want to stay where I have never been

Haha...But Valentines is not all about flowers and chocolate. It's also about getting someones attention that stole your heart. Getting a box of chocolate or flowers is pretty much "common" blahhh
Maybe someone has a good story.....

Or maybe they can steal some ideas

I can't think of anything off the top of my head either. Must be because after Christmas and my birthday in December, Feb 14 is just too soon for something ultra romantic.

As much as I love flowers, I hate the idea of anyone giving me flowers when they're the most expensive. And I'm not a chocolate lover and dislike crowded restaurants. I would rather celebrate it on a different day away from all of the crowds and price gouging.

jejeje.....I am SO not very romantic!

I will share one thing I did for someone to tell them how special they were to me.
I sent an anonymous letter to my bf - an invitation to meet a special someone somewhere. I signed it with a fantasy name I cannot post here.

Anyways, I set everything up for a romantic get away. I dressed for the part...the whole shabang. It cost about as much as flowers - but more personal and creative

To me this kind of romance and gift buying should occur any time during the year and not just on this one day. If I see something that would make a great gift, I buy it and give it rather than wait for a special day (with the exception of Christmas and birthday).

One Valentine's day I made a reservation at my gf's favourite restaurant, bought her belgian chocolates, and some other little gift.

About 2 days before the big day I notice I am getting the cold shoulder. I ask what's up. Nothing. Eventually I dragged out of her that she was pissed because I had not made a big deal over VD.

But it was still 2 days away I protested.

Apparently my crime was trying to keep the location of dinner a surprise. (silly me thinking it was romantic) Or maybe she thought since I hadn't told her where we were going, that we weren't going anywhere.

So we went to dinner and she seemed not to enjoy it very much.

I believe we lasted another week, maybe less.

(sorry I don't have any VD stories that end well, jaja)

Had the same issue for Christmas.... Bought her a new home computer with 22 in flat monitor, and sitting around waiting for a reaction when she came home... But, she was so tired, she went into the office and didn't even notice it, just dropped off her stuff and came to bed... I kept making up excuses for her to go into the office until she finally saw it.... lol... This was probably a week before x-mas...

TG on HG: "I agree with you Houston. If I find something for someone at anytime during the year that I think they'll love, I go ahead and get it, just because. No need to do it just for a Hallmark Holiday."

Yes!! exactly. Relationships are hard work. You should do this all year round on/off to keep the spark, not only on Valentines!
Infact, many times this type of holiday can be quite stressful when yo are alone and the person you care for is away or you break up.....its like Christmas when you are broke! jajaja

Sweetie...Im not talking about HARD HORRIBLE work. maybe I should have worded it differntly. It's just that if you think that once the honeymoon is over and you dont have to contribute or not actively particpate - you are going to wake up alone one day and wonder "what happened? -I thought we were happy when we met?" (yeah - you met 7 years ago, does not mean you stop participating in the dance)

OK?....so I correct the statement to:

Anyway, it's just brilliant advice:

A guy calls in to her show and starts moaning about how his gf left him, he can't live without her, etc etc.

She tells him: Go into the bedroom, masturbate, then call me back and tell me if you still feel the same way.

So I get the feeling after reading everyones comments....when it comes to showing that special person they are special it should be done daily or anytime it is thought of - correct?

But! then there are good number of you that either got dissed by unromantic people or say they are not very romantic or not creative. A good number of negative experiences too I see here...;( There are also some undercurrents of desiring reciprocation and experiences of being let down...so why even go there?...hmmmm

Only a handful put up positive hmmmm

So those of you that are not creative or romantic ...how do you show this daily or when you think of the person if you have trouble thinking of it only once a year? Seems to not compute to me...oh well

Help me out here, I just read the whole thread and it was interesting. Not trying to start a debate, just trying to make sense of your responses

Almost feel Ambivalent after reading the whole thread...Hmmm. ...Oh well.

So slgy, you think that if we remove all holidays from the planet - that human nature will celebrate its existence daily and be grateful?

I think it is human nature to take things for granted, thats why it is so important to be mindful when you are sharing your life with someone, but thats just me...Puuurr

Catgirl, last valentine's when I arrived home from work- in between my doors, there were red roses, and a bag full of candies. It was romantic, but I thought you meant romantic like a room full of rose petals..

When I was a senior in high school, I met this nice boy at my job who wan in college- Valentines' day, senior year I was getting out of my friend's car, and I saw a flower delivery van. Joking around I said to the delivery guy, hey if those are for me you're in the wrong house. He asked my name, and ran to me. The flowers were from the college boy, big white box with a red bow. I ran inside, read the card, and inside were 12 red roses, and 2 yellow ones. I asked my mother why he would send two yellow and not all red and she replied, "hope for love."

I thought that was sweet.

I think simple things like opening the door everyday for you, making you feel like a woman, occasionally giving you a gift- these things can be done spontaneously.

I had had a fantasy for many, many years and the problem was that it was difficult to fulfill because of the logistics. I had told all my girlfriends for years that this is what i wanted to do, but no luck.

the fantasy? I wanted to be made love to, (her on top), with literally hundreds of diamond necklaces, chokers, tiaras, rings, stomach chains, .....you know a woman just covered with diamonds.

One VD a woman happened to have a family friend with a jewlery store on 3rd avenue in Manhattan and we were able to pull this one off. The lighting was perfect, the girl was perfect, and it was the second best sexual episode in my life.

I have a new valentine, and I can't be with her. Such is the nature of international relations[jaja tg?]. I don't buy that St. Valentine's Day is a day for women and their romantic idealism. I believe it is a day for honoring romance, whether one is male or female, heterosexual or homesexual, etc.. It is a day for true romantics the world over, or at least the western world over. Happy St. Valentine's Day to you all. May you all find true romance in your lives, and if you already have, please appreciate her or him this day.

Here is a poem given to me as a Valentines present long time ago...that's all it was, it was the thought that counted. Translated from German to English

LOVE SONG
How can I keep my soul in me, so that it doesnt touch your soul?
How can I raise it high enough, past you to other things?
I would like to shelter it among remote lost objects, in some dark and silent place
that doesnt resonate when your depths resound.
Yet, everything that touches us, me and you, take us together like a violins bow,
Which draws ONE voice out of two seperate strings.
Upon which instrument are we two spanned?
And what musician holds us in his hand?
Oh sweetest song

Wikipedia defintition
Valentine's Day is a holiday celebrated on February 14. In North America and Europe, it is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other by sending Valentine's cards, presenting flowers, or offering confectionery. The holiday is named after two among the numerous Early Christian martyrs named Valentine. The day became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished.

In Colombia, the Día del amor y la amistad (lit. "Love and Friendship Day") is celebrated on the third Friday and Saturday in September, because of commercial issues. In this country the Amigo secreto ("Secret friend") tradition is quite popular, which consists of randomly assigning to each participant a recipient who is to be given an anonymous gift (similar to the Christmas tradition of Secret Santa).

Hmmm its the third Fri and Sat?- That's Sept 19th & 20th...is that correct?
