Not at all. There aren't many here who have half their shit together when it comes to world economics and sadly, Colombia - especially because this is a Colombian forum and not an economic forum. Idiotic statements about economic policies are easily excusable given the participants of PBH. But to be clueless about things Colombian and then to express otherwise or even battle using ignorance instead of experience? This place is full of that.

Rubi said some goofy stuff but he did ONE THING that hardly anyone here EVER does. He backs up his opinions with reasons and examples. Not just blind "I wish it so it must be true" statements.

Anyone who has the brains and balls to back up what they say equals integrity in my book. Even if I believe that they are wrong at least there is something behind it. Rubi would never say something as ridiculous as "The US recession will greatly affect the Colombian economy" or "The USD will go to 2200 vs the COP" without stating why.

People on this board used to pontificate about Colombia because they had been once to check out their future internet wife's ass - or because their wife, now in gringolandia, told them something. They constantly got called out by the likes of Rubi. He's corrected and taught many of us here many times.

Wether or not I agree with all of his opinions doesn't matter. I always respect a man of integrity. There aren't many of us here.

Rubitos was a little harsh on writng style as you say and perhaps he angered one of the mods..He made some good points as well as some that i think were out in left field.To me it seemed like he had a hate on for canada as he never had anything positive to say about canada (at least nothing that i can recall).He had lots to offer on different takes on colombia and seemed a good source of information on colombia.
Gib was okay in my books and though i only come on here occationally(rarley is probably a better description) i miss his posts and also starkys ..aka utopia cowboy...they all had a different take (perhaps not popular with all) but life would be a bore if we just nodded our heads in agreement about every issue.

Rubito has just read this and he is quite surprised people have interest in this dispute.

He says he was deleted and got no warning, so I stand corrected on that. The mods have given me 'fair warnings'.

He says he is through posting but he is part of the Private Mail PBH that some of us have developed as an alternate way to keep in touch and talk about private matters.

The dispute was not about Ingrid as I suspected, and not about PBH at all, but something that spilled over from C blog. If he is re-instated than he would only use the private mail feature to keep in contact with his friends.

So if there is anything to learn.........it is their site........a dictatorship...........the mods make the rules...........we have to obey..........or be gone. If you want to keep your same user name and avatar then don't do anything to get kicked off.

Trouble is, what do we do about the peso contest that is neck and neck between raaay and rubito? It's my game, so I make the rules; if rubito wins......then he wins.

I'll admit, I was totally turned off by his apparent arrogance, know it all attitude, and lack of decent manners before his first exit. But when he came back - I thought he was cool. I don't care that he got canned and neither does he - he can come back. Hey Medo and Clyde do it every night for the past 2 years.

The problem is that all the content gets deleted. The content should be property of the site as it is on every other site. You post it and there it is. This isn't a personal blog. I take the time to write stuff and answer people and people here take the same time to write and post stuff - we help each other and have conversations and share information.

Then some troll like comes along and what does Peter do? He erases everything instead of just locking out the user and deleting just the offensive posts.

There are so many things I'd like to read from the likes of GIB, Rubi etc... AND others who are still here - but entire threads get wiped out because of a troll, or a mod has no other choice.

I get involved in good conversations, come back the next day and the whole thing is gone. Are the mods too lazy to delete individual posts? Maybe it's too much work? The delete button can be added to the user comments page so a mod can quicky see all grouped comments from one bad user and zap those offensive comments - instead of zapping the entire thread or every thread that user ever started. Then soft delete that user and your important searchable content, everything we've written and everything we want to read is still intact.

You've got three freakin' mods here and the answer to a bad guy, Rubi or troll, is to delete everything? Why are we wasting our time writing and contributing?

Peter please implement a soft user delete. It's one friggen byte on your user table and one freakin' check at login and one update statement to replace your current user delete function, which is problably a manual SQL.

This tactic of zapping a long time poster and friend like Rubito reminds of a Twilight Zone episode where a pawn shop of the future allowed people to pawn their 'memories'. Whole sections of their past memories would be removed.

Rubito is going to be living in bogota so i won't be seeing the last of him.............but some likable people here are like relatives to me. Shocking to see them go.

I'm not so sure how truly informative about Colombia he was, given he LOVES to spout "facts" about Colombia, never having left Bogota, to my knowledge. Unless someone called him on it, he was given to sounding like he had firsthand knowledge, which often he did not. Often he quoted statistics without crediting the sources, implying they were firsthand knowledge. I would have appreciated him more, had he credited sources, so we could make better judgments about the stats.

Everyone that has met him in person says what a gentleman he is....I can't help wondering why he feels compelled to be so damned obnoxious online....sometimes.
