finally....the BIG middle east envoy, tony blair makes it to cairo.....(why not gaza)...for talks on gaza. duh.

why didn't he go to gaza and stand up in front of the guns like the gal on another thread?, and stop this horrific killing. score at this hour israelis: 13; palestinians: 870.

israel's gonna pay big for this. as we all know, arabs and israelis have a memory like elephants. this ain't going away with a cease fire. hardly.

now, this a.m. (bbc) israel is putting their eyes on attacking iran. great.

iran has restrained hezbollah from firing rockets so far in hopes of improving relations with us during obama regime, in response obama just emphasized yestrurday that he will focus on making deals with iran...look for US opening an interest section in tehran soon

chest thumping on tv often accompanies under the table deals in private

at one point the israelis were even selling weapons to iran under the table :)

news today....someone leaked the news that israel was planning an aerial attack on iran and bush stopped it.

and if it's any solace to billy, i'm by no means anti jew....i've studied the qaballa for about 30 plus years....i'm just against israeli tyranny.

Doug, to clarify, I never would include you in that group, your motivations clearly come from a good heart. Vladdy here is another touching video about the children of Gaza for your enjoyment.

The Collective punishment against the entire palestinian population is a nazi-llike tactics israel is using

Its like starving and bombing all colombians in farc strongholds

Even the pope, who is no lefty or islamist, used the term 'concentration camp' due to the resemblance of nazism

well, true to form, the israelis are back at the bombing of gaza, because some poor disenfranchised, palestinian killed an israeli soldier.......(just conjecture) probably after his home, business and family were distroyed. so for that one soldier who paid for his actions as such are paid on the battlefield, 100 more palestinians die. you figure.

thanks vlad for the video.

billy.....that video is really tragic. however, if by some trick of GOD, you and i and other friends living here in the relative safety of the west, were transported to a life in gaza where no hope exists, poverty and hunger abound, death a daily reality at the hands of israeli tyranny, i honestly wonder how we'ld be dealing with it.

all of us need to get clear on one point here. this IS NOT about arabs and jews. it's about zionism, it's territorial imperatives and the all but defenseless palestinians. the real santuary of judiasm is with the hassadim....and they are totally against all this bloodshed and tyranny.

"because some poor disenfranchised, palestinian killed an israeli soldier'

Because he is "poor" and " disenfranchised', he has a right ti kill Israeli's but they can't protect themselves? Is that the point here? Hamas struck first in this case, again don't forget. Doug, the Palestinians have a culture of death, they revere it, as the video shows, they instill it in their children from they day can walk, their greatest heroes are suicide bombers. Did you notice the article that talks about posters of the dead being big sellers in Gaza.

Bollocks? You are probably right, since Hamas were the ones who filmed it. All Hamas is doing, is hiding behind the people and using them as human shields.

"but the kids of today will be the freedom fighters on tomorrow"

Oh yes, they did a lot fighting, all they did was hide underground and let the Palestinian civilians take the brunt, Hamas are nothing but cowards. Even the average Palestinian on the street is starting to question why Hamas did not come out and fight like they boasted they would do.

brother bill, i'm not naysaying your point with which i am in agreement. what i do not defend is the slaughter that's going on. do you?

you talk about defending themselves. this is a demonstration far beyond self defense, it borders on genocide. not my words, the world's words from the head of the u.n. to the high rabbis of the hassidim. thirteen israelis--now fourteen--are dead and the body count of the palestinians is pushing up towards 1,500 40% of which per the u.n. are children. no, dear friend, this is without defense. it is slaughter. and unfortunate as it is, the israelis will have to pay for it in the shorts. the hague is calling for subpoenas to the war crimes tribunal to be issued against israel. they cannot snub their nose at the world for their excesses just because of their sufferage at the hands of the nazis. as a hassidic rabbi commentid recently, they're acting like the nazis who persecuted and killed them.

Doug, I think we all, with the possible exception of ujay, want the killing to stop by both sides, but you need both sides to want to reach an agreement and to want peace.Hamas' declared goal is the extermination of Israel and not peace, so they suckle at the tit of victimhood to justify thir continued existance.

i spent 13-14 years working in the middle east, primarily iran. but also, syria, lebanon and israel. and i hands down admit that the four or five times my work took me to israel, that they were the very best--by far--times i spent in all those years.on those occassions of working in israel, i would go into gaza and look for this rare cloth woven by the bedouins who live in the sinai south of el arish. the minute one crosses the border into gaza they realize they (me) were looking down the barrel of a 50 caliber machine gun pointed right at my face and tended to by some young blood-thirsty israeli who from his looks would as soon shoot me as take a leak. very heavy atmosphere. and this was back in the early 70's. they treated the palestinians like chained slaves. they were so visibly oppressed and depressed. those images are with me to this day.

if israel would just lighten up, get off this kick that "GOD gave us this land" and treat others with human respect and dignity, i can't help but feel that the crazyness would die down and ultimately end. i genuinely feel that. you just can't deny people their dignity, oppress them and treat them like pharoah treated the jews and expect them to just smile at the life they are denied. never happen.

when britain tried it with us, we finally said "fuck you" and fought back. we won because we were right and we were being opressed. the same is happening there. anyone who has been there knows that i speak a clear and obvious truth. i'm not on any flag wavers side. i'm simply on the side of life and humanity. i don't give a shit what they call GOD, how they worship him, what they eat, or whether they drink or not. what i do care about is that they have the human right to work, earn a living, raise their children in peace and do their best to make charity the prime factor in their life.

Like many, I too have far preferred the company of dignified, hospitable Arabs to that of arrogant, creepy Israelis.

And it would be a palpably good thing if Israel returned to its 1948 borders. Perhaps it would have been a good thing if the state was never founded in the first place. But it was. And millions of them live there. Flesh and blood people, who have the same hopes and dreams for their kids that we all have. Who feel fear and make mistakes like we all do. They're human beings who deserve to live in peace; not be hounded, bombed and threatened with extermination.

I'm neither particularly pro-Israel nor especially philo-Semitic. I just think they've the right to defend themselves.

both sides, kalder, have that right to defend and protect themselves.

there's just a horrible imbalance in body count and right to life positions. as long as israel continues with their heavy inconsiderate hand and continues to take land belonging to the palestinians, this blood bath will continue.

i do have hopes that our new president will prove to be the humanitarian i think him to be and, por fin, take a centrist, neutral approach to this and stop this senseless slaughter and displacement of the palestinians.

I agree with most of the last 3 posts, but I want to point out that if Israel loses even just one war, it would most certainly cease to exist. How would any other country in the world react to attacks if faced with same circumstances?
