i wonder what the conversion kits cost? i want to buy and older winnebago and tour the USA some more one day, but sadly it will be expensive at $4.50 per gallon of gas. I would assume used vegetable oil would make the consideration much more friendly on my wallet.

Lots of Canucks are getting into this. One guy showed me the set up. Something like a 1st stage filter at home after picking up the stuff then a gizmo/filter inside the truck for final filtering and mixing (I think) with some diesel.
Diesel fuel should be very clean as particales can block the injector pump. Very fine tollerences with diesels even though they seem to go forever. And moisture in diesel fuel will stop it in its tracks.

I'm not greedy I just want a lot.

Depending on what Company you buy the Kit from they can run anywhere from around $1000 to to $1600 depending on Options shipping. And what kind of Kit depends on whether you have a newer or older diesel(direct vs indirect injection). You can also rig your own kit up from various online Instruction manuels. The Kit I was looking at for VW Turbo Diesel was from Greasecar.com

Kat--don't you remember a long time when you asked what would be a good business for a farm in Colombia and I told you having a small Biodiesel Plant and/or a collection area to collect and sell waste vegetable oil would be a winner due to increasing high diesel prices in Colombia. You never responded to the Idea,,,I still think its a winner as its a Necessity and not a luxury!

mm - do you think it would be hard to source the grease? and, could you convert back if you could not find enough grease (say, on a roadtrip?)

Kat1: you could have a double business, make "empanadas" and "fritanga" and then use that oil to make diesel. LOL
