I was very sad when I heard the news, I liked him a lot. Did you know he was a Peace Corp in Colombia years ago? Yeap, he loved and helped Colombia during the 70's

Agree with all of you, he was great and will be missed in this era of mediocrity in the news industry.

He(Tim R) grew up in neighboring Buffalo NY which was 70 mlies up the road from my hometown in Erie, Pa. Our Communities shared a lot in common such as food, Industry, similiar immigrant groups(irish, german, polish, italian and now arabic and latino) lot of catholics, ethnic restaurants, weather. Later(70s-80s) I went to work on the US Corps of Engineers Dredge Ships which were based out of Buffalo, NY so I got to know his city very well. We both were of the same generation(black&white TV era) so when he spoke about growing up in Blue Collar Buffalo and his Dad being a Garbage Man, I felt like he was talking about Typical everyday life in our city. He was a humble guy who sure had a knack for asking the tough questions,,,Charlie Rose's PBS Show devoted the whole hour to remembering him tonight.

This is a shame. Nice to have a guy who is relatively unbiased and doesn't throw softballs.

yeah, friend, a veces, alli mucha lucha..... but all's well here. a little tutaledge required for th rambunctious but other than that, it's all good.

we wanted to get back, but with the youngest in catholic school here i have put it off until she's off to academy or georgetown. however, the more painful things get here economically and the fact that we're on fixed income, the more i just want to say screw it and go home.

she already has her signatures to go to the airforce academy and is accepted at georgetown, so if she wants, those options are still open. as for mom and me, we just want to exit the race and go home and relax. i have no more mtns to climb and just want to go to the finca, watch the cows piss and spend my time with friends and writing.

and you, wass up?

Well, I've been busy like a mofo. Taught my first college course and it was great! Now that school is out for both me (grad school), college kids, and religion students, I'm spending more time at home and went back to working out. I'm pumping iron lately and I love it!

I'm also going back to training martial arts. In about four weeks I'm taking my family on vacation to Aruba. My brother will meet me their from Caracas, Venezeula.

Don't know who's here, what's been said, or the latest drama. I see some of the old guard like yourself are still posting.

Douglas, it sounds like way overdue on going back home.

OVERDUE???? got that right friend. just got to wait it out. and as i get older and the back side (that being the number of years left) becomes thinner, i become more impatient. shit, i just want to drop out and hang out. don't want to raise anymore children. i've more than enough time in grade on that one. i'd like my children to bring the grand children to visit...then go home. mom and i just want a little quiet time...cows pissin, chickens crowing, all the above. if i knew now what i should have known then, although i can only hypothicate, i think i'd put the brakes on a little sooner. that way, the back side would be a little fatter.
