the personalities behind the power

all the latest crap from El Payaso, Bush, Mugabe of Zimbabwe, etc. has me wondering.

do you think these guys are truly so self-absorbed that in their heart of hearts, they really don't admit even to themselves how much they screw up? i'm truly not looking for a bash session...just intrigued by the personalities involved.

how, for instance, can mugabe NOT see how he has shredded his once-proud country?

i truly believe that El Payaso has deep-rooted insecurity issues...but is his judgement so clouded by his megalomania that doesn't "get" how embarassing he is to his countrymen who are capable of mature thought?

bush, i think, has arrogance only a "born again" type can muster - i think he really believes in his heart that god guides him in these ridiculous decisions he sometimes makes...

or - is the power so intoxicating that they lose their self-awareness and common sense?

Ok I'm in...

Step 1

First think of the type of person that would take on a position such as this by personal choice

Second think of the type of person that would take this on by outside encouragement

I believe that this happens to many Leaders at many levels. (or should I say most leaders at most levels?) Plus there is the "God" complex that some of them get.

I cannot explain President Bush any better than the other Presidents of my life time. Ronald R. is my favorite though.

Sad but true....unfortunately, if this is the case, you have a staff with predominant personality disorders. If that is true - the person moving up is a mere puppet

mugabe's a case in point. this type of psychotic/sociopath is as one who searches up his ass for diamonds, having heard that such gems are close at hand, but well hidden. you figure. and as for being aware that he's responsible for the demise of his once prosperous economy is to assume--a priori--that he's 'aware'. he is a sad, truly complicated, psychological case. those around him keep him in power for fear of losing what they've enjoyed during his reign of disrepute. too, he is very much unawares (say those close to him) of anything resembling reality, as those who inform him lie to him and keep him in a stuporous darkness.

i spent some time in zimbabwe about the time mugabe was beginning his "redistribution" program, douglas. met with several govrnmt officials. these guys didn't give a rat's ass about helping anyone but themselves.

guy, mugabe may be the case in point, but hardly the case in particular. the governing heads all over africa are persons who went off to harvard, yale, oxford, etc, became phd's and when returning to their native countries, were as far removed from the electorate in education, culture and experience as the earth is from mars. they ended up with absolutely nothing in common with their countrymen. look at the net result. all of these countries are nothing more than corrupt dictatorships.
