The Official Euro 2008 Thread

The Euros are very soon, and as discussed on the Champions League thread, it would be cool to get some discussion going on the tourny.

So, any predictions?

I think Spain or Portugal will take it, and I'll be rooting for Spain. Let's see if the Spanish manage to forget that they are Spain, only then will they do well instead of underachieving.

I think Greece will do very well, look out for them to do a good job at defending their title, they are a much better team than 4 years ago, and much more entertaining. They could surprise a lot of people.

Also watch out for Italy and Croatia, although with Eduardo out of the squad, Croatia is a lesser team.

Would love to see Spain or Portugal win but the Germans will always be at the finishing post, they are such a strong side. I really don´t want to see France and Italy there, Italy for there defensive play and the French for the arrogance, but, i said the same thing at the last world cup and they both ended up in the final.
Still bitter at England not playing, wont be the same without them.

Actually, against the germans in the last world cup, Italy played some of the best football I have ever seen a side play! I hope they replicate such play.

And paulr, I am so bitter without england in the tournament. WC1994 all over again. Instead we have to settle for a trinidad and tobago friendly that starts in about an hour :(

I actually think France is the best team on paper... Italy is the team to beat being the champions of the world... and I'll be rooting for Spain out of natural allegiance. Should be a great tournament as I really enjoy watching the Portuguese play and then Holland and Germany have very strong squads. My sleeper pick would be Romania.

My candidate just lost today. Too bad the end of Figo`s generation couldn`t win a tittle.
Spain (besides that Aragones is racist prick) Spain is Spain and will loose against Italy in quarter finals, which by the way is the first Azurri team not looking to win by a mere half - zero (non piu catenaccio !)
Croacia is the underdog. I`d like to see them in the final even if I can`t pronounce 12-syllables last names with just one vowel...
Germany is always a candidate.
Neederlands should pick the title now that Portugal was defeated.
