'The Office'

I think the British version is darker and a tad funnier; but the US one is more nuanced and the characters more appealing.

I love them both. Wonderful comedy.

I've only seen the british one so far, it is brilliantly funny, and I refused to watch the yank version so far because I thought it just couldn't be as good and might be awful.

But maybe it's worth a look?

A friend gave me the boxed dvd set and I gave them to my brother to watch, he didn't like it, said he didn't like any of the characters...I thought that was the whole point? I think he just doesn't get the humour..

I read that Series 1 of the US version was rubbish- it wasn't much more than a slavish adaptation of the UK one and it just didn't work. But the writers made the subsequent ones very much their own and with much greater success. I've seen Series 2 (first on cable in Colombia, then rented online here) and I found it delightful.

Yeah, I watched an episode from the first series (US version) and it sucked. Not funny.
Since then I let some of my friends talk me in to watching a few other episodes (not from the first series) and they were pretty good.... as in, I'd actually laugh sometimes. ;)

One of my favorites MaFe! I thought they did a nice job this year by putting Earl in jail. Gave it a fresh perspective.

Never liked 'My Name Is...'. 'Married with Children' and 'Frazier' were popular US comedies over here. I liked them.
