Thatcher rushed to hospital

Well at least you made old bones, you evil skank.

Unlike those young men who committed suicide in despair at the jobs you destroyed, the apprenticeships you decimated, the communities you devastated.

And as you lie in your hospital bed, I'd like to think that you spare a thought for the elderly who died of hypothermia on your watch.

But I doubt you will. 'No such thing as society' eh?

Not to mention my mates who died in the Falklands and my family from the North East who´s mining jobs were lost, the youngsters who are homeless because she sold off all the council housing, the property crash of 88 and the "Loadsamoney" generation who were born from her shit brand of politics.
And she smells of vegetable soup.
Unfortunately, I read this morning that she´s now out of hospital.

Leave the big stick at home...carry a cannon!

well I still like her, I think she's taking the blame for fixing the problems caused by her predecessors.

but I'm pretty sure we're not going to agree on this one.

Oh Lucas, wonderful album, great quote!

Easy to see why some of you "men" disliked her. She had more balls than most of her subjects.

"Margaret Thatcher was the kind of woman who made men's toes curl. Her savage intelligence, command of policy and what François Mitterrand called "the mouth of Marilyn Monroe and the eyes of Caligula" both terrified and intrigued them. And she loved it. The woman who was prime minister of Britain from 1979 to 1990 declared she owed nothing to "women's lib" and surrounded herself with men—appointing only one woman to her cabinet."

Pink Floyd AND Thatcher in one quote :(

podborski says on Mar 9, 2008, 06:52:

I'm quite sure kalder's dislike (to put it kindly jaja) has nothing to do with her gender.

And I understand (well I wasn't there, but I have some idea) the hardships people went through during the early part of her term. I quite vividly recall the newspaper headlines back then counting up to 3 million unemployed, things like that.

I just don't think she was at fault, but was cleaning up a massive mess left by decades of mismanagement, which can't be done painlessly.

Maybe it could have been done better? I really don't know. But I think the positive results were shown in the long term.

Lucas Freley says on Mar 9, 2008, 10:01:

Thanks ManINred. I love Pink Floyd, and I think that this album, The Final Cut, is a picture of the period of that years. The lyrics of this songs, are a good exercise to the mind. Waters paint the situation of the early 80's with a perfect accuracy. And for those like me that were little childs at that time, this album is like a yesterday's newspaper. So...yes Pink Floyd and Tatcher in the same quote ;)

The 'harsh but necessary medicine' argument has some obvious merit but the social costs were too high. And the Tories were very far from being high-minded pragmatists. They did very well out of the immiseration of others. And the unseemly delight they took in the undermining of such concepts as community, compassion and civic pride was odious.

Aztec's comment is pointlessly sentimental. What on earth does 'having more balls than most of her subjects' mean? That having the money and power to get your own way is an especially admirable species of valour?

The 'en-balled' women of Thatcherite Britain were the loyal and selfless wives of the striking miners, who kept the families going on twenty quid a week while Maggie tucked into her pheasant and caviar.

Interesting choice of words 'subjects', btw. She never had any- we're subjects of the Crown. For all the batty cow's appropriation of the royal 'We'.

One thing both major parties in the UK have accomplished, including, unhappily, even Maggie:

The systematic Islamization of the UK, where people can march on the streets calling for the beheading of those who insult the prophet on the one hand, and accuse of a hate crime anybody who expresses disgust for Islamic teachings on the other.

yes kalder.....sad how the UK fought so hard to keep the Nazis out (and rightly so!!), .............and then open their doors wide to de facto foreign occupation of their land.

2 million Muslims there now? Even the Nazis would not have had that many occupation troops there if they had succeeded in a cross channel invasion.

Political correctness......it will be the UK's undoing. The UK has willingly imported a future civil war. This is not speculation. It will happen. It is only a matter of time. The only question in my mind is whether an old guy like me will live long enough to see it happen.

The British Army would be well advised to reactivate their Sikh and Gurka regiments. Those people know the history of how Muslims have behaved in their own native countries, and they know how to deal with them.

LDW says on Mar 9, 2008, 14:16:

kalder........it sounds to me like you know the story of how Black Jack Pershing dealt with Muslim terrorists in the Philippines after the Spanish American war, more than a century ago.

After he was done with them, it was 42 years before there was another Muslim terrorist attack there.

I do feel somewhat sad about the sacrifice that the poor pigs had to make. Pigs are noble and useful animals.

LDW says on Mar 9, 2008, 14:24:

kalder.....refresh my memory.....

What was the name of the paki trash who had a knighthood from the Queen, and then openly, on national British TV, called for the death (execution) of Rushdie for his book "The Satanic Verses"? That was done during Maggie's tenure as PM.

I remember seeing that paki shithead on BBC TV, and where he called for Rushdie's death. When interviewed by the BBC, he said free speech was OK, as long as it was done "with responsibility" (in other words, don't disagree with him).

Political correctness. That paki shithead was not charged with a hate crime (I guess openly calling for somebody's murder on national TV is not considered "hate" in the UK). He had previously been given a knighthood by the Queen.

kalder says on Mar 9, 2008, 14:40:

That sounds like Sir Iqbal Abdul Karim Mussain Sacranie OBE.

I occasionally drink with a pakistani. Very Westernised, likes gin mucho, Muslim in name only. Thus, I'm sure a large amount of 'Muslims' are just fine. But it's absolutely true that the 'moderates' are either only moderates by whacky Islamic standards (like that weasel Sir Iqbal) or are strangely reluctant to condemn terrorism with anything approaching robustness.

I didn't know anything about Pershing and the Muslims. I only know that technique was used by the Brits in India. Great minds etc. I guess...

"kalder- have you ever had a woman?"--Sam Salmon

LDW says on Mar 9, 2008, 14:52:

Muslim in name only......they will not condemn shitheads like Sacranie....because to do so they would also have to condemn their own prophet (who, on the basis of Islamic literature itself, was a thief, pedophile, adulterer, slave trader, rapist, and murderer).

Even "Muslims" who drink gin will not condemn their prophet. Sounds to me like your Muslim acquaintance is just trying out allah's whorehouse early, because his allah guy does offer him "rivers of wine".

Black Jack Pershing had his men round up about 50 Islamic trouble makers, and had them tied to posts that had a large pit dug in front of them. Some pigs were slaughtered, and their guts were deposited in the pit. Bullets were dipped in pig fat, blood, etc, and 49 of the 50 were executed, bodies dismembered, and thrown in the pit. One guy was let go to go back and tell his Muslim buddies all about it.

42 years passed before there was another Muslim terrorist attack.

I do feel kinda sad for the poor pigs.

LDW says on Mar 9, 2008, 14:58:

Sir Iqbal Abdul Karim Mussain Sacranie OBE.....who, on BBC TV during Maggie's tenure, openly and vehemently called for the execution (i.e., cold blooded murder) of Rushdie, for Rushdie's mere crime of writing a book that fuckface Sacranie didn't like.

Is that how one is awarded a knighthood in the UK these days?

The FARC has more honor than that. Gawd!!....even Hitler had more honor than that. At least with the FARC and Hitler, they never made any pretense of being our friends.

britabroad says on Mar 10, 2008, 09:44:

Óne is awarded a knighthood in the UK nowadays by funding the governing political party which is in power. Recipients are "chosen" by politicians, not the Queen. Hence you get a load of unknowns suddenly putting "Sir" before their names because they´re in favour with the PM etc.
Same happens when Peerages are handed out.
Of course, they then join the House of Lords, flying the political banner of the party which they funded, giving the politicians more of a say. The whole system has been highjacked by the government for their own gains.
As for a Civil War in the UK? Well, it´s said that England has riots where other countries have revolutions, so I´m not sure it will come to that - but wrapping slices of bacon around the mosque door handles isn´t beyond the realm of possibility.
Seriously, it will only take one more high loss of life at the hands of these idiots and the politicians will have to listen to the British people for a change - or suffer the consequences.
That Jack Pershing chap sounds like he´d be a laugh at a dinner party! Is he now in charge at Guantanimo Bay?

Leave the big stick at home...carry a cannon!

LDW says on Mar 10, 2008, 10:17:

britabroad.....

Black Jack, as you probably know, was also the American supreme commander in World War 1.

We need somebody like him with some balls, but soldiers only obey the orders of politicians, and we all know the Saudi Royals butter the bread of GWB. We have to stop handling muslims with kid gloves.

manINred says on Mar 10, 2008, 11:20:

All very depressing. They changed what it meant to be British, from a great definition to some naff definition, all because of bloody political correctness. As for people who grow up in Britain yet hate it and bomb it, fuck you! Get the hell out, and stop whining if you don't like it. But why would they go back to their shitholes? Hypocrites would rather stay in Britain where they are actually presented with real opportunities. Excuse my French please :)

And by the way Kalder, while perhaps I would start a Pink Floyd fanclub, I wouldn't start a Thatcher one. Half of my family love her, half take a Kalder-like hatred of her. I'd rather stay neutral :)

LDW says on Mar 10, 2008, 11:32:

well manlNred.........

Yes...it is depressing. PM's from either party aiding, abetting, and kissing the arse of the enemy that is already in our midst.
