miamimike says on Apr 28, 2008, 09:56: Kat-it all depends on what kind of slimming tablets you speak of! These no prescription green tea or brazilan pills sold on the internet or at the Vitamin Shops are essentially useless and in many cases, they are dangerous. Why you ask? Because the source, in many cases is Unknown. Next, you have NO idea where, by who and how these Pills were produced. Were they made in someone's dirty Garage or Chinese sweatshop where NO Ingredient or purity standards exists? Who in their right mind would put such an unknown Pill into their Body amazes me! The Drugs made in Bonafide Laboratories,an Example would be a Drug such as Roche Pharmaceutical's "Xenical", (chemical name Orlistat) which here in the USA requires a Prescription if you want the 120mg dose. The 60 mg dose now approved for over the counter sales is known as "Alli". This is a legitimate weight loss drug that acts on the small intestine's ablity to absorb Fat from a recent meal. Most of these other fast weight loss drugs are BS, Fad drugs which rarely have lasting weight loss effects. Many people have become deathly sick as a result of taking these unknown Fad diet pills. Vanity overtakes good judgement and common sense in many instances,,, "Wait a minute. What did you just say? You're predicting $4-a-gallon gas? That's interesting. miamimike says on Apr 28, 2008, 10:08: CATGirl--I persoanlly took this drug for 3 months more for its Cholesterol Lowering ability then for weight loss. Thats a secondary action of Xenical(orlistat) . I rarely eat meat an other foodstuffs containing large amounts of fat but due to genetics, My cholesterol runs high. In all the time I took this drug, 3 times daily, I never once suffered from the side effect you mentioned. I believe the reason was my low fat intake; if you take this drug and avoid a lot of fats, you probably won't have this side effect. It really is one of those "Beneficial" Drugs. Then again, it is a real drug manufactured in a real Laboratory and not some internet or Vitamin Shop concoction of unknown origen,,, "Wait a minute. What did you just say? miamimike says on Apr 28, 2008, 17:43: Catgirl- Not maybe but Lipo is the ONLY Option currently,,, Physiologically you cannot turn these fat cells into muscle cells with any proven current technology so presently there is no other option regardless of what you want to do, no matter how much iron you pump. If you know of a method to accomplish this change, run as fast as you can to the Patent Office and patent that process pronto as you will be One Very Rich Woman! Get there ahead of those Ph.D Guys working on embryonic Stem Cell research! And here inthe US forget any research as Bush shut down the use of any of these lines due to pressure from the religous right of the Republican party. No matter that this research may lead to a cure for Stroke and various other neurological diseases. LOL Huge difference in the biochemistry between Adipose Tissue(fat cells) and Muscle Tissue. Nothing is more influential then Genetics when it comes to these fat deposits. 1000s of people exercise daily, the pump Iron until it is coming out the Kazoo but after all the weight training exercises, the FAT Cells are still there. They may have shrunk a Tad but the main structure (fat cell)is still there and intact,,,I have a German friend who is a hard drinker, smokes like a Chimney, has done every drug known to man, eats out daily at McDonalds all the crap fatty salty food yet he is built like Arnold S. He had the fortune to inherit very good genes and doesn't have an ounce of Fat on his 220 lb frame. Hard to beat genetics even if you try,,,lucky for him "Wait a minute. What did you just say? Man Tequila says on Apr 30, 2008, 13:36: There are different types of slimming tabs. Most contain stimulants that increase metabolism and heart rate, plus cause the jitters -- caffeine, guarine, ephedrine or phenylephrine. They don't work that well and the calorie diet part makes a bigger difference, might as well just drink eight cups of coffee a day and get the same effect. Man Tequila says on May 1, 2008, 09:34: Here's what I don't get about Orlistat (Xenical). It works by stopping some of the chemicals that break down fat. So maybe 30% of dietary fat goes into the poop instead of your body. And many folks would lose some weight. Fatty poop tends to stink, float, be mushy and look greasy. But so what? People who want to lose weight don't care.
