Sleeping Angel

I don't usually like the figures of Angel, either they are this fat ugly babies with wings and scary faces or sexy women...

But I went to Highgate Cementery the other day and there was this Angel in a tombstone , I don't know why attracted me so much, i think it is beautiful and the feeling behind it... i was there looking at it for a long time, I told my husband if I die first I want one similar in my tombstone, I took a picture and i am planing to take it to Colombia and ask a friend who took a picture of me and painted it in a canvas to do this one.

I don't know why i became so fascinated by it

I live four stops away from it on the Underground, so I've been there a few times. It is indeed incredible. The supernatural associations are great fun:

Yeah, but I have not the slightest where. I'll ask Fabes tomorrow, he'll know. It was a weird place, all overgrownwith vines and ivy and stuff...with lots of Celtic crosses and small hidden gravestones.

I ve just stumbled across this post and having lived in Highate, Hampstead, Hackney, stoke newington etc it was quite a shock to see something that I have known for many years here on PBH. Great foto of highgate cem, however Abney Park cem is a hidden jewel in N16 north london and ok now it is very trendy but I lived for many years very close to this hidden oasis opened around 1840, other great places are clissold park, stoke newington church street, all made popular beacause of the Tony Blair Islington overspill, not forgetting stamford hill and the extreme jewish fundalmentalists long black coats ,hair ringlets, gotta stop now , might get messy, not forgeting the polish that have infiltrated this area, ok history has its way

It was my son who was living in North London at the time who took me to Abney Park; he loved that place. There's an old, abandoned chapel there where pidgeons come to roost, the whole area is totally overgrown and full of hidden graves and crosses in all different shapes. My son told me that in chapel he had seen the remains of sacrificed chicken with blood and feathers all over the place. I took lots of pics but since this was some time ago, perhaps 10 years or so, I didn't even have a digital camera that time.
