if you take salsa lesson in the US your gonna be taught salsa on 1 and 2 (NYC stlye) which are more caribbean style dancing then anything.

it all depends on what you want. most americans and tourists prefer this style due to all the turns and reruns of salsa on late night tv. jaja

learn that first and when you wanna move on to colombian style ill have some tips for you.
