SALE OF THE MAGNA CARTA...

did ya'll hear about the sale of ross perot's 700 yr old copy of the magna carta?
he's auctioning it off. not too many of those up for sale. first estimate is 30 million but it may go for ten times that...who knows? shouldn't he just donate it to the smithsonian? he's got enough $$$ or is he auctioning it cause he needs $$$?

interesting. the most important document ever relating to freedom, democracy, human rights, etc. the foundation of our constitution. and no body has an opinion on this auction. all other copies of the magna carta are in britain. this is the only one abroad.

thanks for the comment, kalder...i got the info off PBS...public radio. and they 'thought' the other extant copies were in the british museum.

it's interesting, folks/governments with deep pockets can pay any price for this document and there are those who would burn it for what it stands for. there's actually only a hand full of countries that expound/espire to the contents of the document. happy holidays
