Obama could be the first afirmative action president.

If you have paid attention to the news lately, its seems alot of people are going to vote for Obama just because he is black, and they think its time a black man was president, never mind his ideas(not that he has any).

and by the way, from the view of the landscape now, it feels like from the players on the field, he has my vote...and to be honest, i'm pretty damn certain blackness has absolutely nothing to do with it. and at last check, i'm not black either not even medium brown. Hey Scotty,

everybody knows that his father had little to do with his upbringing. Everybody knows that his mother was the one that raised him. Everybody knows that she is not a muslim. Everybody knows that other non-muslim children attended those schools as well. Everybody knows that living in a country where the predominate religion is muslim does not make an individual a muslim. I go to a Chrisitian University and a large percentage of the students are not Chrisitans. Your reasoning is extremely flawed my friend and you need to read something outside of the lunatic right-wing blogs and chain letter emails. You want to paint him as a hardcore muslim and an extreme liberal...make up your mind. Is he muslim fundamentalist or a pinko commie? Was it grape kool-aid? If it was, I would have had a hard time turning it down as well...I love that stuff.

I guess Laura Bush is a Muslim as well.

hey L, did you know that the church Obama attends praises and promotes the followings of Lewy Farakan.
hey L, did you know that Lewy Farakan and his bunch hate whites.

you can use any stupid analogies you want to use the fact is the man is very very left wing, the man has muslim upbringing, the man hangs with undesirable people. Not only that he is full of chit, he talks and talks and talks and says nothing, he speaks as if he is preeching, he struts around the stage like he has all the answers when in fact he doesnt have a clue .
Hillary is right this guy is all talk, he makes all kinds of promises that he will never be able to complete.

esanch36 says on Feb 26, 2008, 06:34:

But there is another, unstated aspect to this messianic fervor. What is the one big sin for which, in the world view of the left, America must seek absolution? Racism. Voting for Obama offers every guilty white liberal the opportunity of claiming that America has been redeemed from the sin of racism because it voted a black man into the Oval Office.

I must praise Obama for running a color-blind campaign—and if he's smart, neither he nor anyone associated with his campaign will ever dare to mention race as a reason for voting for him. But I suspect that race is a major motive for many of his supporters and the main reason why they view him as a transformative figure who can fix our souls and redeem our sins.
Michelle Obama, in the speech, in which she promises that her husband can "fix our souls." The substance of the speech makes it clear that Obama will fix our souls by making us comply with the creed of collectivism—which most people believe to be good but cannot actually bring themselves to practice.

Obama believes only a government can rescue people from the consequences of their own decisions. Only government programs can provide for your every need, and only government can use your money wisely enough to ensure that your needs get covered. Individuals cannot possibly manage to help their neighbors through their churches or community organizations, let alone encourage people to do for themselves

Your original comment mentioned none of those things(some are valid points). Your comment was basically "Ooh. Look at the black man in the scary muslim outfit" . I guess you're implying that he has some muslim sympathies. If that means he is less prone to bombing the hell out of brown people in the mideast, then that doesn't strike me as altogether negative.

Honestly, I am not wild about the guy. I'm not sure he is really qualified to be president and that he isn't just a bunch of articulate hot air. But going after a politician for wearing a local costume when visiting a foreign country is just petty.

Lcacique says on Feb 26, 2008, 08:16:

Every politician claims that they are going to fix America and it is common to use figurative language.

scotty, tell me what to be afraid of please: muslim fundamentalists are very, very conservative. Those are the ones that get targeted as being extremists and condemned for being lenient or supportive of terrorism. They have nothing in common with people on the far, far left. Now "your" crowd loves to point the far, far left as being anti-religion. So, what is it?

Are you afraid he is going to team up with Abdul Jabbar and Hakeem Olajuwon and make Basketball the national pastime.

At least he does not go to Pat Robertson's church.

esanch: voting for Obama does not change years of racism and it does not pardon white's for anything. Anybody that thinks otherwise is fooling his or herself.

Yes, TG, I 'member, vaguely..... Not too many people do... technically Washington would have been 8th president, but since we didn't start to officially keep track until after the constitution was written up, anybody in charge prior isn't truly accounted for in many dictionary's...

I think I read an article that he was of Moor descent and that made him black, but I've never really bought it, but that would be pretty ironical if it were true in today's US....

G_S, it's that college history that some people stay awake for.... for the most part anything you learn in 3rd great in regrads to history is distorted IMHO...

I will have to disagree.. Washington is not technically the 8th president, he is still technically the 1st president of the USA. The Articles of Confederation wasn't a constitution for the United States of America... it was concerned more with the colonies having their own individual sovereignty. Hanson was elected to oversee the Congress of the Articles of Confederaton, not to be the president of the US as we now know it. I won't go into more specifics and bore everyone. But we can agree to disagree ;)

Yeah, GS... I doubt you would have heard of this in 3rd grade. I didn't know about it until 8th.

TG, I'm not disagreeing at all.... that's why I said "would have"..... but, you are correct, Washington is officially the 1st president....

It's just that gap of who was running the country between the time the U.S. was discovered and Washington.... I think everyone else that was helping establish the country served 1 year terms....
