Is meeting Prince Charles great? or is it because he's a member of the British Royal Family?....

I met Billy Crystal and Robin Williams, I think their both Great, but that's because their nice guys.... But, nothing "Great" about them...

I also, met quite a few of the NYFD guys at a bar.... I thought they were GREAT, for being at ground zero and nice guys....

Point taken Msaucey.........I edited the post and took out the word Great............like you say..........my idea of Great and your idea of great probably would be different.......but famous could be good and bad...........

"Is meeting Prince Charles great?"

Not for me it wasn't. I wrote about it in some post last year.

I've met Jean Claude Van Damme back in his hey-day. That was fun. I enjoy martial arts so it was a treat to meet him back then.

And to name the rest that weren't really a big deal......Jodie Foster when she was in Home for the Holidays (not really a big hit...)..........one of the guys from Nick Lachey's old band (when I was in highschool).....DMX, famous rapper that is always in trouble with the law....the girl from Family Ties, I can't even think of her real name......

No one too exciting...

kalder says on Mar 3, 2008, 13:16:

And I took a piss next to Ken Livingstone in the khazi of a London pub.

But I didn't glance down.

NataliaV... I ran into Jean Claude back in his day.... His attitude when I ran into him was... Don't you know who I am?.... Really not a nice guy...

I also met Russell Crowe with his entourage... Same type of attitude.... But, with a worse twist.... He was there with his girlfriend and was still pretty upset that girls weren't drooling over him... We told him they may drool at the factor that he's an actor, but the establishment we were all in way predominantly lesbians.... Which made things worse and he started with his tough guy attitude... Ay.... Kind of comical...

Kalder.............I changed the title to Famous...............so I'm sure you'd agree Prince Charles fits into that category..........

I've actually met quite a lot of famous people...............I'll bore you with the details later.......................

The first...........First time in the States..........just a young lad............anyway, crossing the street in Fort Lauderdale, and of course looking to my right instead of to my left, to check for cars...................So, this big black stretch limo grazes me...........I fell over but was not hurt at all...............This lady alights from the back of the limo to check on me...Liz Taylor.........to cut a long story short.........she had myself, my brother and another friend over to The Breakers Hotel for dinner...............classy lady.......that was 20 years ago....

Msaucy, yeah I heard Van Damme was a prick. But I met him when he was promoting his movie Double Impact and I was just a little girl. I was there doing a Tae Kwon Do demonstration to help promote his movie. He was very friendly, but we were kids....

I also heard Russel Crowe was a real jerk. I never really liked him to begin with...have no idea why some women would even drool over him.

Raay...Liz Taylor is a classy lady. I know her butler that she uses when she stays in a NY hotel. Liz requests her often and is very very nice. No chip on her shoulder. She also often babysits her dog while she goes out and about...

I have a picture of me with Robin Williams, he was very nice to let us tourists get a photo with him while his hangers on literally sneered at us.

I used to see Kate Hudson often at a bar near my cottage. She was nice and said hello. Also saw her step dad Kurt Russell who made a big fuss over nothing, and seemed to need the attention, and then he'd complain to the media that he had no privacy.

Oh how could I forget, I was in a bar in a hotel in NYC and the crowd started to chant "champ champ" and I wondered what the hell and then noticed Mohammed Ali was standing right beside me.

He was already ill at the time and when I asked for an autograph he didn't really reply, one of his entourage (at least 25 people) said 'please let him be', so we did. But people were curious and a few of us followed them out of the bar when they left and there were another 25 or so women in fancy dresses outside having a group photo taken.

I've never seen an entourage that big, and I had to wonder how much money the poor guy must be going through every day. Can you imagine putting 50 or so people up in a hotel in NYC for a week or two? jesus...no wonder Mike Tyson went broke

Lcacique says on Mar 3, 2008, 16:30:

hum..Benicio del Toro, Ben Stiller, Steve Bucemi, Danny Glover, uuuhh...Shirley from Laverne & Shirley, tons of bands (i.e. The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Spoon, etc) and too many NBA players and coaches.

Benicio was super nice. He was in a large record store in PDX and we hung out and talked a bit discussing blues music...we were both buying some R.L. Burnside stuff. The funny thing was that he was dressed like a construction worker and nobody recognized him. The clerk asked his name and the poor kids eyes popped out when Benicio responded.

Hum..had drinks with the very tiny Ben Stiller at a small music club in Portland. Actually, I had a drink and Ben had orange juice. What's with that? Orange juice at a bar...

Steve Bucemi...awesome guy...didn't want to bug him. Ran into him on the streets of Portland when he was doing some shit at the film school. Small talk and wished him well.

Danny Glover's got a place in PDX. Everyone has seen him. Nice guy.

Shirley used to live in Portland. She used to jog by my work a lot and nearly ran me over as I was leaving one day. I'd always get the theme song stuck in my head when I'd see her.

The bands, well...not gonna air shit here.

NBA players/coaches...I attended B-ball camps in my youth and go to a lot of games. Plus, Portland is not all that big so you run into players from time to time.

Interesting topic...when I was but a kitten, my uncle was a make up artist for Universal Studios and my mom was trying for a modelling career. So we lived in North Hollywood for a bit and I was surrounded by a multitude of well known actors. But I was too young to appreciate it. I was Cartoon age , hahaha. My baby sitter was the actress on the Waltons who played "Mary Ellen" - that's all I recall
But most recent? The closest I have come to a celebrity was Pierce Brosnan's mother in-law. She owns a Spa in my area and it's like a Shrine to him - pics of her daughter and Pierce. My massage therapist rented space there for a some time. This woman was very Hollywood and got a bit too over the top with past lives conversations. I allowed her to do a facial on me and - Woah..She thought I was great because Pierce & I were the same Astrological Sign (??). And thought she knew me from a past life. It was my last visit - too woo-woo for me jaja. My Massage therapist couldnt handle her either and moved her business elswhere. It was quite clear Pierce was funding the Spa to keep his mother in law busy (and AWAY). jaja. Anyways...that's all I can think of in regards to celebrities. jaaja

I've met a number of famous people, no big deal. One that stands out, if there are any literary buffs out there. I sat next to Scotty Fitzgerald, the daughter of F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, on a plane from Atlanta to London. I knew who she was, after she went to the restroom, and the couple with her told me, after seeing a copy of Tender is the Night sitting beside me. We talked the entire flight about all kinds of stuff, including literature, but I never acknowledged who she was. After I retrieved a pull cart for her at Heathrow airport, she hugged me, and I gave her what I believe was a knowing wink as I walked away.

My most memorable was when I hung out with a fellow grad student backstage with Kenny G in Tulsa. He was interested in what we were studying and ended up giving me an address and phone number by the end of the night. I sent him a personality test just for kicks and he called me on Thanksgiving eve to talk about the questions on the test. I don't recall the results of the test, but the profile made sense. I met him backstage again a few months later in Minneapolis, but no juicy stories to tell.

Then there was my encounter with Tom Selleck when he was shooting Magnum PI in Hawaii. He pulled up next to me, tooted his horn so I would look in his direction, and smiled his big grin. Unfortunately he was turning left and I was going straight, but he gave me a wave when the light turned green. Considering I was a huge fan of his I could kick myself for not following him, but I had a friend to pick up for a night on the town and I was on cloud 9 for the rest of the evening.

What was really annoying was hearing his CD played virtually every day at breakfast when I was in Shanghai 3 years ago. Ugh!

" only went to the concert b/c I had free concert tickets and they were for the first row. Before then I had no idea who he was!"

It's OK... you can admit you were his number one fan ;) After all, nice of him to talk to you guys after, at least that is sorta humble of him, unlike some pop stars who think they are God's gift to mankind, which they mostly aren't, unless they're the Beatles.

We all have our guilty pleasures, and Kenny G isn't a terrible one to have! What would mine be... hmm, I'll have to sit on it, perhaps Kanye West?

houstongal says on Mar 3, 2008, 21:14:

jajaja.....seriously not #1 fan at the time. After the concert I did become a fan, but because it was really nice of him to talk to us for such a long time. He had great questions and was interested in psychology. And to spend an hour to fill out a personality test and send it to some girl you just met? I should have made copies of the report and kept it! But ethically I couldn't!

Guilty pleasures? Hmmmm....have to think about that!

I worked for 10 years with the rich and famous, for movie studios, magazines, commercials, etc. I had met many stars, and they are so very nice.
My favorite and the only that took my breath away was... Sting,... and his wife, I have many autographs and pics of them and with them. I spend time with them in a one to one basis some times for 2 hours. Can`t tell you what I do. (nothing very important, but kind of personal)

What I find is they are so natural, so like you and me, they don`t think they are big deal.

I got to go on set and watch them film True Lies which was an action movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger ,Jamie lee Curtis, Tia Carrera, Tom Arnold and was Directed by James Cameron. I never thought much of it and never asked for a photograph or autograph, not my thing. I stopped Don Johnson once on A1A in Key West for doing 76 in a 30 . That was back when Miami Vice was in it's hay day. He was lucky I did not ask for his autograph that day(Push hard 4 copies). Skip ahead 17 years and I Find Myself married to a wonderful Colombian Girl and Asking Famous Vallenato artist to take a picture with me. when I lived in Tokyo my friend got back stage passes for Kenny Loggins, so went with 2 girls we knew. During the concert Loggins says he is sick of all the footloose crap and he plays a few tender love songs, one of them a particularly touching tribute to his wife and new baby, as he explained to the audience about how he missed them etc etc.

Backstage he takes one look at the girls we are with (models from LA) and invites us all to dinner. At dinner he rearranges the seats so he can sit beside the girl I was with. He hits on her all night.

The girl and I were really just friends, so I couldn't say much, but I still thought he was a hypocitical prick : )

But she also had dated celebs before (Marcus Allen for one) so she thought he was just sad and ignored him.

Unfortunately I wasn't up to her standards either, so we all went home alone : (

(the next day the other girl told me they all went to a disco, where Japanese girls went crazy over Loggins, and as she described with barely hidden disgust, 'tried to lick the sweat off his body'. So I guess he didn't go home alone after all.)

I was in a cigar store in Yorkville (Toronto) during the film festival and walked up a narrow set of stairs, and Kyra Sedgwick was walking down.

Of course I looked at her, and she couldn't help but glance at me, no big deal but then she did a double take, like she thought she knew me or something.

I didn't say anything, nor did she, but I could see her wanting to say 'aren't you so and so?"

Later I started thinking I probably look like some hollywood agent or something, and if I only knew who I could have gone and crashed a bunch of the parties using his name.
