the bike import threads were semi-tiimely for me, it seems.
for years i've wanted to build a Cobra kit car. years ago, in my racing days, i picked up a fresh supercharged cleveland 351 and put it away for "some day...".
a few weeks ago, i stole a kit in an estate situation - still in the shipping crate, with 2006 manufacture date. complete kit, minus engine, tranny, wiring harness.
i hope to god this year is the year i put the States in my wake - and i think it'll take a year for me to build the beast...so now i'm thiinking to ship it south, rather than start it here.
i assume that since it's plainly new (still crated!), i could legally import/title it in colombia?
from the factory, new kits run about $15k. i paid nearly half this, w/ bill of sale as proof. :-). any wisdom on import duties?
for the curious, here's a foto of a finished "sister" car...

Dan says on Apr 27, 2008, 12:17: I was interested in Ultralights too... I'm sure it's possible... when I was researching it at one time, I saw that there is a small airport just outside of Bogota that has active ultralight flyers. Kit car, I don't know about.
