Obviously it's not an ideal thing.

But I really think it speaks more to the sensitivity of tests like chromotography than a danger that should keep the public awake at night. The article says "While researchers do not yet understand the exact risks from decades of persistent exposure to random combinations of low levels of pharmaceuticals, recent studies - which have gone virtually unnoticed by the general public - have found alarming effects on human cells and wildlife." I'd agree with the first part but want clarification of the second.

This news should concern those who believe in homeopathy. By the same principles, this extreme dilution should make these trace elements of crap even more potent and powerful.

MT - this was on the news Nationwide (US) today...how pharmaceutical companies and pharmacies, hospitals are "flushing" meds down the toilet and into the sewage system is a hot topic now. Sewage is dumped into major water systems AND recycled and used to water plants.....

Homeopathy? True, but I am sure there is a reason they are focusing on this particular public safety topic. There are new regulations now on how medications can be wasted/flushed in hospitals etc.. It is effecting us - period

I guess I should sort of be thankful that my tap water is filled with so much chloride that it would probably kill anything else.... I'm sure every hospital is out of compliance... Everywhere....

Man Tequila says on Mar 10, 2008, 21:10:

People talk about antibiotic overuse and resistance. It's a real concern, doctors overprescribe them. Silent in the discussion? More antibiotics are used in animals than people. And this is a big part of what shows up in the water.

People who take too many vitamins pee out most of them, and this applies to stronger medicines too. I'm not surprised the water is full of crap. Hospitals probably do flush the occasional unused thing of IV meds, and should be forced to comply with regulations if out of line. I would suspect simple peeing and pharmacies would play a bigger role.

I don't know if this is affecting us -- Period. Like global warming, I think you should assume it is until you know it is not. But if part of the problem is the tests are crazy sensitive, which is my suspicion, would any intervention will get rid of these chemicals?

Sex hormones in tap water? Hmmm, come to think of it I have noticed a correlation between tap water consumption and the amount of headaches I get.

Man Tequila says on Mar 13, 2008, 20:21:

But sex hormones are supposed to help headaches (seriously). On the other hand, Toronto tap water probably contains trace amounts of Mel Lastman, so I guess you have a point.

jaja...this true. As I recall there is a fertility drug they use to use (not sure if they still do) for migraine treatment.
Then it depends on what type of sex hormone we are talking about, jajaja

CB, I guess using the excuse.... "Ay, no, not tonight, too much tap water, I now have a headache" has just gone out the window....

If you thought I was going to say "Naaaaaaadie", I can sell you a bell and a salivating dog. ;)

Remember when Mel was going to Kenya to try to muster up support for yet another futile Toronto Olympic bid (because then we would really, really be "world class") and told some reporter "I'm scared about going out there. I just see myself in a pot of boiling water with all these natives dancing around me." He's what you call progressive.

So you didn't type "noooooooooooooooooooooobody" but you certainly thought about it and might even unvoluntarily have winked your eye, opened your mouth and done the okay sign with your index and thumb.

Well, I did think about saying Nooooooobody. Then I felt dirty and ashamed, funny what preprogramming can do. At least I did not wink my eye or make any gestures which might be considered obscene in some countries.
