SS--LI not only payed the US Govt back in full but way ahead of time as well. Not many companies pay off their debts to our Treasury ahead of time. The barrio girls seldom work as maids. It's usually campesina and small-town families that send their yioung daughters to the nearest city to work as maids. The poorest barrio girls may work as maids, but not as live-in and they usually are on the lookout for better employment opportunities and possibility to study in the evenings.
