Just a reminder of what you can expect when you buy your next GM car....

OK, let me get this straight. The worst Euro car manufacturer takes over the worst American car manufacturer. Who expects this to work?

If you wait long enough sometimes your predictions eventually come true.

I was driving a FIAT Strada in '79 and predicted their takoverover of Chrysler, before Iacocca was booted from Ford and took control. He was already working for a dollar a year BEFORE he went to Washington, hat in hand, and I think paid all the money (one billion[?]) back to the government.

Seems that some people think "everybody's outa step but me".

SS--LI not only payed the US Govt back in full but way ahead of time as well. Not many companies pay off their debts to our Treasury ahead of time. Toobad he didn't run for Prez but he said he didn't want to jump in the snakepit. Honest men in DC don't work out too well. Some immoral unscrupled Puppet like my avatar boy "w" does well,,,LOL

A further irony is that Chrysler has turned to the Italian automaker Fiat, which has had financial difficulties of its own, for manufacturing and business acumen. In Europe, Fiat’s vehicles have suffered decades of image problems, depressing the price that the Turin-based company can ask for its cars. Furthermore, Fiat went through exceedingly difficult times in 2003 and 2004, when (again ironically) it was General Motors that was nearly forced to bail the company out. By 2005, Fiat was in such dire straits that it exercised an option to sell its car division to the American manufacturer, forcing GM to buy it at market price. But GM was so wary of Fiat’s enormous debt and unimpressed by the car division that it chose to pay a $2 billion penalty instead of taking ownership.

Well... since this thread appears to be going nowhere... perhaps we can pick up here, where another thread was left off by Desi:

The barrio girls seldom work as maids. It's usually campesina and small-town families that send their yioung daughters to the nearest city to work as maids. The poorest barrio girls may work as maids, but not as live-in and they usually are on the lookout for better employment opportunities and possibility to study in the evenings. The great majority of the barrio girls are honest, hard-working young women who carry more than their own weight. They are not your barflies or zona de tolerancia women. Povery is not a crime nor a disgrace. Your arrogance is disgusting.

I think this is a fair shake and perspective given by our moderator... unbiased, as she is.... about the good heartedness of the common girls of Colombia.

Chrysler won't repay bailout money

An administration official confirms that a $4 billion bridge loan and $3.2 billion in bankruptcy financing won't be paid back by Chrysler following bankruptcy.
