in '87, it was worse, and people were in a panic, though not as many, because not nearly as many had money in the stock market then, but for the ones that rode it out, they saw the benefits of the greatest run in stock market history, though with ups and downs, over the next decade. Who knows if that will, or will not be the case this time?

LDW........do you watch the Baltic Dry Index from London? it measures the demand for dry bulk shipping versus the availability of bulk shipping watercraft. it correlates globalization, commodity prices, and china output.

it was strange last week when it dropped 30%........10% just on friday.

i hope this won't be a prolonged downturn in international shipping.

i understand the tankers are deadheading from Brazil because the Chinese won't pay Vale do Rio the price they want for iron ore.......

this is one indicator i'm watching very, very closely.
