when i worked in a bank in Tokyo, some Indian guys came in and had a letter with Citibank's logo on it, and it claimed they were owners of something like 2000 TONS of gold.

My boss asked me if I thought they might be legit, and I took about 2 seconds to find out that it amounted to just about all the gold in the world, and we figured they were scammers.

Now if they had only said, like, 2000 ounces we might have been fooled.

They operate on the premise that bank staff will be intimidated, afraid to offend a potentially super important new client, which might get them fired, so they do dumb things like give them a cash advance on a (false/stolen) credit card, or even on the base of a letter from another bank.

guys enters the bank to rob it. unfortunately for him, the shortest teller line led to a no-nonsense, middle-aged teller - who, after being told about the robbery, calmly told the robber to please take a seat - she'd be right with him. which this idiot does. after waiting 4-5 minutes, he gets frustrated and leaves.

a few minutes later, the cops spot him calmly strolling along the major street in town. when asked if he had just robbed the bank?

"yea - i tried, but that old bitch made we wait too long for the money!".

the cops reported the guy being shocked at being arrested - since he got no money.
