vlad,do you honestly expect anyone here except for cassini, to be interested in anything Aljezeera has to say? Much less to find it credible?

you know what...that whole area over there is a mess, it has been a mess for a long time, and it will probably continue to be a mess UNTIL those people in that region wake up and get their priorities in order.
If they would spend less time on jihad and holy wars and human bombers and always trying to kill the Jews, americans and europeans and spent more time building their own region and helping their people they would be much better off.
slguy said it perfectly do we really care what Aljezeera has to say...they are are part of the problem.

Besides that- I seem to recall Israel telling Hamas after the elections that if they continued their belligerent actions, ie, firing missiles into Israel from Palestinian territory, that the results would be dire for Palestine. So, vlad - your pronouncement about the US/Israeli "punishment of Palestinians" for electing Hamas is just, well, crap.

I disagree strongly with many of Israel's policies- especially about continuing to build new settlements where they have been proscribed. Frankly, I think Israel shoud retreat to the pre-'67 borders, too. But this isn't a realistic scenario, unless and until the Palestinian people recognize that continuing the terrorist activities against Israelis is just pointless and counterproductive. Israel has every reason to continue their dominance of the Palestinian people until the palestinian demonstarte SOME capacity for peaceful coexistence- Israel is a a tiny country surrounded by Arab states who refuse even to acknowledge their right to exist. The State of Israel is many things- none of which are terminal stupid.

So far, Palestinians have given no indication that they have peaceful coexistence in their game plan- especially by electing Hamas. If you're the runt dog in a fight, you roll over and let the big dog assert himself- then find a way to play together. The Palestinians haven't checked the mirror lately, apparently.

I agree with slguy. I'm no great fan of Israel and I too think they should retreat to the pre-67 borders. But with extremists like Hamas limbering up for a re-run of the Holocaust, I'm not so sure what else they can do but carry the big stick.
