I'm fine, Plato. Yes, we're missing some of the old crowd here but the discussions have been lively as usual. How have you been? Stilll in N.Y?

Yes,still in NYC. Busy as hell. US politics and economics is as disappointing as it is interesting here - don't want to get into it here though. Still teaching in addition to my day job. So, with all this craziness in my life, I haven't had much time to read the board.

Good to talk (write) to you though.

Morphus, MaFe, MiamiMike, ColombianGringo, man . . . it's good to read you guys! Old friends.

ColombianGringo, didn't get around to it, but I always have it mind to do it. Why the hesitation? I don't know how it will affect my career having dual citizenship. Sorry to be criptic, but that's all I can say about that. What it does mean is that I have to wait and see where my career trajectory lies and then I'll make a final decision.

Morphus, I'd love to train with you. But dude, I'm no where near where you are. I've trained for almost a year and dropped 20 pounds, and certainly toned up. I have a little more definition and certainly more power in martial arts training. Guys in my age group (mid-40s) don't have the stamina and strength I have, which I am happy about because it says something about me. Nevertheless, I see some beasts in the gym pushing serious weight. Unbelievable what some guys can do! But I would certainly take you up on training with you and perhaps pick up more tips. Good to hear from you Morphus.

MiamiMike and Mafe - good to hear from you too!

Well done on keeping up the training Plato. I haven't let up on the gym, but since I got rid of my car, I haven't been to a martial arts class in two months :(

got rid of your car? what's up? sounds like you need the shrink more than the gym. je je.

getting by with out a car sucks. if i want to go get a loaf of bread, or some milk, it's a twelve mile round trip.

That's because you live in the States. Which is awfuly big. If I want a pint of milk, I can just stroll down the road to get one.

I got rid of my car, because it was a useless bastard that should have been torched the day it dropped off the production line.

I quite like the Vauxhall Corsa actually Mongo.

No, it was a Renault Megane. Beautiful cars in some ways. But when they go wrong, they do so in grand style. In the space of a month, the gears went, the fuel gauge went, then the brakes.

I managed to sell it (at an enormous loss) to a Colombian btw.

come over here, kalder, to big sky country where you can buy a used ford for $500.00 and it'll serve you for another 150,000 miles and/or ten more years. easy.

great used car buys here...we have 3 X's the number of cars that we need. i think we have as many cars as we do people.

I've always wanted to do a 'road trip USA' doug. Empty highways, the cornfields, Rocky Mts. on the horizon, roadside diners -all that romantic Americana. Reading Saul Bellow over a Rolling Rock in the evening...getting into a conversation with a jaded, but still pretty, 40something divorcee...

i don't know what it costs you to take a 'short' home, but there are so damn many used cars here.....more than there are people. a car lot is a bad place...just read the paper. you can pick em up for nothin. and an old ford, chevy, cadillac...shit, they run forever long past your interest in em. just set your self a budget. pick one up, drive around the states, see the sculptures at mt rushmore and the new one they're carvin up behind of crazy horse...then see yellowstone, then come down through four corners and see the injun country..hopi, navajo, apache, comanchero et al...then hit a border town and come back through calif. and see how wierd people can get and still get by. do the coast, it's better. and make your last stop sanm francisco and then you'll probably want to go straight home...je je....there's so much variety here. you'll enjoy it. and there's always a nice mature lady who has mutual interests... you know how it goes...it aint the age, it's the milage.
