Buenos Aires, Argentina (CNN) -- A former Miss Argentina died Sunday after complications arising from plastic surgery, the official Telam news agency said.
Solange Magnano, 37, died in a hospital after being transferred from a clinic where she underwent an elective surgery on her buttocks on Wednesday, the agency reported.
Magnano ran her own modeling agency in Argentina, and had been a model and Miss Argentina in 1994. She also was the mother of 7-year-old twins.
The cause of her death was under investigation, authorities said.
Note: for anyone contemplating Plastic Sugery, here is a vivid example of why one needs to have their surgical procedures performed in a well equipped hospital that can deal with any medical emergency that may arise during & afteer Surgery. In a small Clinic(esp in the Americas) many times there are few medical personnel otherwise then a Doc and a Nurse to respond. No Repspiratory Techs, No IV Team, No Code Team in the building should a patient get into trouble & flatline ect. Not the place to try and save a few dollars for sure. RIP

And,,,its also off topic is it not? Why not flag it if you feel the venue is in-appropiate for the topic? Your post was a flagrant violation in the FTZ, this is quite different

WW--Do you know if these people who died had the surgery in a small clinic or a larger Hospital? We have had a few deaths here in Miami from Plastic surgery done in these small clinics, the last death was in Weston(just outside of Miami) and the patient was an RN(nurse) who went in for Breast Surgery. Happened 2 months ago, surprised as she should have known better. When the Docs do it in a smaller cheaper clinic, they can put several hundred more $$$ in their pocket. A good friend recently had 3 rounds of Reconstructive Surgery after breast cancer at a large and very well known Hospital here in Miami and all the procedures went off without a problem. One surgery lasted 14 hours and no problems. A few years ago one Ft Lauderdale Doctor injected 2 patients and himself with Botox all in the same day and they all ended up unable to breathe and on Ventilators. He almost died himself (the doc), needless to say he was sued and lost his License but not for a lifetime (one of the 3 patients died). Many times here in Miami they catch unlicensed Docs from Cuba and the Americas performing plastic sugery, Dental work in converted garages in the Latin Communities. These patients don't realize the danger they put themselves by going to these unlicensed butchers(most, not all) If anything goes south, these patients have no recourse but to go to the Hospital or a Licensed Doc and pay a second time to correct the botched work. Happens weekly here in Miami. If they are lucky they get a second chance...

miamimike is so absolutely correct in his assessment that it seems absurd anyone would disagree. It is especially dangerous in Colombia because everyone is in the business. Not only any and all doctors regardless of their training but beauty/hair salons and nail shops are even in the business. It is crazy and getting worse!
People should know these procedures can quickly turn into major medical problems.

Why do people (mostly women) put their lives at risk to be beautiful?
Society? Low self-esteem?
I'm not talking about reconstructive surgery from real medical reasons, but people who elect to have these unnessecary procedures.

MM - i cannot remember those details, but i heard stories of friends of friends dying after complications of plastic surgery. i believe in most cases, the victims were released to go home and problems arose after that point.
