Stuff like this scares me.

Is this crap actually worth $800 in Colombia? Unbelievable...

Seems like a great deal to me, provided everything is in tip-top running condition.

Not much for memory and the ad doesn't say whether they have legal operating system installed, but at $100 each it doesn't sound like a bad price considering the location. Pop in a memory chip, stay away from Vista and they would be fine for a school, home use, an internet cafe or a small office.

Sorry I misread the post, alezzz. That makes way more sense now.

Good luck.

These computers are basically worthless. They should be donated to some rural public school so that some campesino kids can at least get some exposure to computers, whereas right now many are getting no exposure at all.

I doubt you could even effectively run an operable version of internet explorer on them. Only a VERY OLD version of Microsoft Office and very primitive accounting software would work.

You can buy a new Dell, which would be 1000 times the computer for less than 10 times the money.

They are servicable for an internet cafe. You don't want to provide top of the line PCs so some moron spills a premio on it.

LDW says on May 31, 2008, 16:12:

Internet cafes are such a waste of money. Better to buy your own modern computer and hook up through your own ISP at home.

I would never patronize an internet cafe that had such neanderthal equipment.

Those cafes are not meant for people that can afford their own equipment and ISP connections, but rather for those that can't.
