What happened to building 7?

To the truthers, “building 7 – the third building in the World Trade Center complex to collapse on September 11 – is evidence that the mainstream media is in on the plot. On that day, the BBC reported the building’s fall almost half an hour before it happened. Journalist Jane Standley was broadcast at 4.54pm eastern time reporting that the tower had collapsed – but in the background, it was still standing.
It fell 26 minutes later, seven hours after the Twin Towers came down.
When the Standley clip hit YouTube, truthers bombarded the BBC’s website with questions and accusations. Richard Porter, head of BBC world news, was forced to deny that the broadcaster was reading from the Bush conspirators’ script. He said the BBC had misreported warnings from fire crews of the building’s imminent collapse and instead stated that it had already happened. He blamed the confusion of the day for the mix-up. CNN had earlier reported rumours that a third building had either collapsed or was about to.
But in the minds of the truthers, this explanation was undermined by Porter’s admission that the BBC no longer had the original tapes of its coverage.
Building 7 is the truthers’ smoking gun for other reasons, too. How, they ask, could this modern, steel-framed skyscraper collapse merely because of fire, without even being hit by an airliner?
The 47-storey WTC7 fell straight down, at almost free-fall speed, largely into its own footprint: all the hallmarks, the sceptics say, of a controlled demolition. Building 7 had some fascinating tenants.
The main occupant was Salomon Brothers, the bank, but on floors nine and 10 was the secret service. On the three floors above that was the Securities and Exchange Commission. The New York Times reported that the building also housed a secret office operated by the CIA dedicated to spying on and recruiting foreign diplomats based at the United Nations. The station’s loss had “seriously disrupted intelligence operations, it said.
The CIA shared a floor with an office of the Defence Department and the Internal Revenue Service.
The collapse of the building also wiped out the operations centre of New York City’s Office of Emergency Management on floor 23, throwing the response that day into further mayhem.
Truthers have focused on a comment on the afternoon of September 11 by Larry Silverstein, the building’s owner, to a fire department commander: he said they should “pull the building after a faulty sprinkler system left fires to rage all day. “Pull, the sceptics claim, is industry jargon for demolish. Debunking911.com points out that the term actually refers to pulling one building away from another with cables. Silverstein’s spokesman later said that Silverstein told the fire chief that the most important thing was to protect the lives of the firefighters, including pulling them out of the building if necessary.
The US National Institute of Standards and Technology began investigating the collapse of building 7 along with the Twin Towers in 2002, but hived the inquiry off into a separate probe, which will not report until August. This fuelled suspicion that officials were struggling to come up with a plausible line of obfuscation. NIST says progress has been slowed by the complexity of the computer model it is using, which simulates the collapse from the moment it begins all the way to the ground. Another 80 boxes of documents related to WTC7 have also been found and need to be analysed, it says.
NIST’s working hypothesis is that fire and/or flaming debris from the collapsing north tower (which left a long gash in building 7’s south face) damaged a critical column which supported a 2,000 sq ft floor bay. The remaining floor bays were unable to redistribute the loads, and the whole structure came down on itself. The fact that the collapse was triggered by an internal failure would explain the appearance of a controlled demolition with a small field of debris left behind.
The influence of the truthers can be found in this line from a 2004 progress report: “While NIST has found no evidence of a blast or controlled demolition event, NIST would like to determine the magnitude of hypothetical blast scenarios that could have led to the structural failure of one or more elements.
The BBC, meanwhile, has yet to persuade some of its critics. It had wanted to film the 9/11 Truth seminar at the Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles but was barred by the organisers, who cited building 7.

pedro...............this subject is too controversial for this website and just leads into all kinds of arguments. most people here can't handle the truth.
all i can say is, us 'truthers' are trying to get an inititative on the new york city ballot asking for an independent investigation. actually any kind of investigation as there really wasn't one.
ex governor kean who ran the 911 commission now writes that his commission was forced to take the conclusion.
the d.c. madam was murdered over this.............and on and on.............i just read where an arizona state congresswoman is trying to get mccain into a meeting with the truthseekers. she may be the next person knocked off.

I found this documentary very interesting (Zeitgeist), it has a bit of a report and a dig into the real truth on that building you are referring to, certainly something dodgey went on there. I found some of the information a little hard to believe, but not has hard to believe as some of the people involved in it. That apart, it is very interesting! Watch and make your own mind up. http://www.ineedpopcorn.com/play.php?id=000002
No-one will ever know for sure who exactly was behind the awful things that happened that day, but one thing is for certain, a lot of things were hidden.

The U.S government, as we know it, has no control over the U.S. federal monies and policies. So don't blame the government if you're broke, can't afford to pay the rent, eat, gas, travel, breathe, or a frosty cold beer.
If any truth is to be extracted from the the video, Obama will be next, 'causing the inevitable race riot, so many people in the U.S. have been hoping for for a very, very long time in America. It will be American against American, with color being the catalyst for the end of America as we know it. I hope I'm wrong.
Conspiracies aside, if you can not explain the implosion of building 7 on September 11, forget everything else, then you definitely have a conspiracey.
Paulr, thanks for the video.

Why do conspiracy nuts always get treated like a red-headed step child?
Again, conspiracies theories aside, if you can not explain the implosion of building 7 on September 11, forget everything else, then you definitely have a conspiracy.
I'm left thinking, why must I live my life according to convoluted expectations, when the people who make the rules preventing me from enjoying my short time on earth, have no qualms about killing innocent people all around the world.
I've been thinking about this for some time now. If you only live once, why not live it without consideration to what others think; good, bad, or otherwise.
Overall, very interesting information.

NY Fed chief urges global bank framework
By James Politi in Washington and Gillian Tett in London
Published: June 8 2008 23:32 | Last updated: June 8 2008 23:32
Banks and investment banks whose health is crucial to the global financial system should operate under a unified regulatory framework with “appropriate requirements for capital and liquidity, according to Timothy Geithner, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
Writing in Monday’s Financial Times, Mr Geithner, a key US policymaker throughout the credit crisis and one of the main architects of the rescue of Bear Stearns, says that the US Federal Reserve should play a “central role in the new regulatory framework, working closely with supervisors in the US and round the world.
EDITOR’S CHOICE
Comment: Reducing risk in the financial system - Jun-08‘Deleveraging’ haunts central bankers - Jun-08US concern at ECB’s hints of higher rates - Jun-08In depth: Credit squeeze - Jun-08Wolfgang Münchau: ECB’s Fed shift justified - Jun-08Editorial Comment: The Fed, oil and inflation - Jun-01“At present the Fed has broad responsibility for financial stability not matched by direct authority and the consequences of the actions we have taken in this crisis make it more important that we close that gap, Mr Geithner says, in an excerpt of a speech to be delivered today at the Economic Club of New York.
The credit crisis has heightened pressure on US policymakers to consider sweeping changes to a regulatory system for financial institutions which has commercial banks such as JPMorgan Chase and Citigroup regulated by the Fed and investment banks such as Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers more loosely regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Mr Geithner called the system “a confusing mix of diffused accountability, regulatory competition and a complex web of rules that create perverse incentives and leave huge opportunities for arbitrage and evasion.
However, legislation to overhaul US financial regulation is unlikely to start advancing through Congress until next year when the new administration takes office.
In his speech, Mr Geithner will also say the Fed is examining whether to make “permanent some of the new liquidity facilities put in place during the credit crisis, and called for central banks to establish a “standing network of currency swaps, collateral policies and account arrangements to bolster liquidity during a future crisis.
Meanwhile, Malcolm Knight, the general manager of the Bank of International Settlements, the Basel-based central banking group, told the FT that the financial system now faces a growing risk of exchange-rate volatility as investors and central banks grapple with the impact of rising commodity prices and other inflationary pressures.
“It is not clear if the rest of the world is going to continue to fund the US current account deficit at current levels of exchange rates, he said. “The pattern of the exchange rates is subject to considerable uncertainty now.
The comments are likely to be closely watched by investors and policymakers, since they come at a time of renewed market focus on the outlook for the dollar relative to the euro and other currencies. Last week, Ben Bernanke, Fed chairman, broke with the US central bank’s traditional silence on currency matters to make clear that it does not want any further dollar weakness.
While the dollar rallied on Mr Bernanke’s remarks, it retreated later in the week after European Central bank comments suggested an interest rate rise and as the price of crude oil soared, heightening inflation fears.
“There is a perception that after a long period of quiescent inflation, things are changing, Mr Knight said. “This is quite visible in terms of commodity prices in energy markets but also in terms of what is happening with other commodities too.

The 911 investigation is constantly moving forward. All kinds of people have lost their jobs or have been murdered for questioning the official version of 911. I know no one likes long articles but this is an example of research going on right now. This is interesting because of the connections between the Media and the Bush Regime.
Was she killed for something she uncovered about 911? This coverup is the same as all the others; nothing in the media, police don't investigate, shady characters in high places appointed by Bush or his relatives, etc.
This is raw intelligence that I have to pay for .......and you never read anything about all the people that have disappeared over 911 in the dupe news:
On the morning of July 20, 2001, the
body of 28-year-old aide Lori
Klausutis was found dead in the
Florida office of her employer, then-
Congressman Joe Scarborough, later host of Scarborough
Country and MSNBC’s Morning Joe. A 7.5-
inch fracture stretched from her right temple to her left,
while two other skull fractures and visible contusions
were present on the front and back of her head. There
was also a pulverized region of bone behind her ear, in
addition to bloody foam that had bubbled into her lungs,
indicating a slow, agonizing death from asphyxiation.
Remarkably, coronerMichael Berkland provided the
following “official explanation. Due to a weak heart
which didn’t allow blood to flow to her brain, Lori
Klausutis stopped breathing and fainted, which caused
her to hit her head on a desk. The impact formed a fistsized
blood clot in her skull, ultimately leading to her
death.
Three hours after the woman’s body was discovered,
GOP Rep. Scarborough told WEAR Radio that
Klausutis had a “complicated medical history, including
strokes and epilepsy, while his spokesman,
Michael Serrano, explained to WGTX Radio that the
deceased “suffered from ill health for some time. The
coroner, Michael Berkland, weighed in by stating that
Klausutis had a “previously undiagnosed heart condition,
whereas registered nurse Juanita Bergman
claimed that she “obviously had a seizure.
In their hastiness to provide a cover story, quite a
number of irregularities surfaced. First, Klausutis was
an avid physical fitness buff who belonged to the North
West Florida Track Club and had recently completed an
8 km marathon (approximately 5 miles). Secondly,
Klausutis’ family insisted that she suffered no health
problems, never had seizures, and that Scarborough’s
claims were an “outright fabrication.
Further, to cause such a huge amount of bleeding
inside the skull—along with fractures under the brain
above the eye socket—requires a severe blow to the
skull. Or more accurately, considering Klausutis’multiple
injuries, a variety of severe blows; not just one
from striking a desk.
Circumstances became even more suspicious when
we consider coroner Michael Berkland’s past. In 1996,
he was fired as a medical examiner in Jackson County,
Mo. for filing false autopsy reports, and for failing to
perform more than two dozen autopsies that he claimed
to have completed.
A year later, nine criminal cases were jeopardized,
with at least two overturned, due to these falsified
reports. By 1998, the state of Missouri revoked his
medical license for incompetence, unethical and unprofessional conduct, knowingly making false statements,
misconduct, dishonesty and misrepresentation.
Then,
after relocating in 1999, Berkland was suspended as a
medical examiner in Florida because he failed to disclose
that he’d lost his license in Missouri. By his own
admission, Berkland lied to the press and gave false
statements under oath.
Berkland entered the macabre after he “falsified
autopsy reports and mishandled organs taken from
the dead. In one particularly tragic case, one that
irreparably traumatized the surviving family members,
Berkland removed the brain of a young woman from
his office and placed it in the back of his car.
Yet in 2001, who was placed in charge of investigating
Lori Klausutis’ death? None other than Michael
Berkland, who by now was nothing more than another
version of Bill and Hillary Clinton’s cover-up coroner,
Dr. Fahmy Malak.
Berkland was placed in this position
by Dr. Gary Cumberland who, along with his wife,
had each given campaign contributions to Rep. Joe
Scarborough that exceeded federal limits.
Equally
interesting is the fact that the man who failed to verify
Berkland’s revoked license was Dr. Stephen Nelson—
chairman of the Medical Examiner’s Commission—
who was appointed directly by Governor Jeb Bush.
Florida’s corrupt medical establishment wasn’t the
only one involved in this cover-up. The Northwest
Florida Daily News made no inquiries whatsoever into
the death of Lori Klausutis, while the Fort Walton
Beach Police Department never filed charges against
anyone. To make matters worse, the medical examiner’s
office and local police refused to release any
records involving this case. CNN completely ignored
this bombshell story, instead focusing solely on the
Chandra Levy disappearance.
In the ensuing months following Lori Klausutis’
death, Rep. Joe Scarborough resigned from his congressional
seat, despite being reelected to a fourth term
only six months earlier. (He had announced his
planned resignation inMay.) His reason: to spendmore
time with his family, even though his wife recently left
him—with custody of the children—because of
Scarborough’s repeated marital infidelities, often with
staff members, that held the potential to erupt into fullblown
political scandals.
Two years later, Michael
Berkland was dismissed by the Pensacola Medical
Examiner’s office only to be replaced by illegal campaign
contributor, Gary Cumberland, who perpetuated
the Klausutis cover-up.
But all was not lost for Joe Scarborough. After
resigning fromCongress, he was subsequently hired by
MSNBC prior to the neo-con Iraqi invasion, replacing
their highest rated talk show host at the time, Phil
Donahue, who was ardently anti-war and anti-Bush. In
this role, Scarborough became a hired media hit man
who targeted anyone who didn’t follow the accepted
party line, such as 9-11 widow Ellen Mariani.
