I've been thinking about that problem of presents and the room they take in the suitcase. You pack just like I do; one suitcase just for presents and one for my personal stuff and that's not a lot for a little longer stay, say for example, a couple of months. Next time I might not bring any presents at all; I'll shop locally the day after arrival and since everything is made in China nobody'll know the difference. (I'll bring a little chocolates and stuff like that from here, but in small, token quantities)

I know, kat1. The last time at the customs in Bogotá the guy opened my suitcases and just kept pulling out boxes of chocolates and looking at them and weighing them in his hands....he looked like he wanted a box, but he just asked why so many and I said because I have a lot of people who are expecting a present in Cali. Inthe end, with a disappointed look in his face he just shoved everything back in the suitcase and I had a really tough time making everything fit again.

i hope they don't make me open the suitcases, i will have lots of trouble closing it again, in bogota they made me open one, i told the guy if you open that suitcase you'll close it cuz it took me long time to do that, he did open my suitcase and two of my brass pop out, embarrassing i shove them quickly by the side.. heheh... he did look the chocolates, i really wanted to give him one but i didn't, feel so sad :((
