During a sports event it would have to be a lot more serious than that for any legal action. It would be more likely that the governing board of the sport would suspend someone for a number of games. Any sport that is physically demanding will have tempers flare at times resulting in such behavior. Its nothing new other than it was caught on video.
You also didnt see what probably happened earlier in the game that lead to that.
