Conservatives Unite

Since I was not allowed to post anymore in CB I have been looking for other like minded people to find a place where we can express our views with anyone who would want to argue with me under civil circumstances. This country was founded on different views being taken seriously and not ridiculed. I have found that all the sites on Colombia have been taken over by extremest left wing individuals who have an agenda and will not discuss stuff on the merit of the discussion. I am a conservative that believes this country is being lead down a path of destruction. I love America and the freedoms that it was founded upon and will fight for my right to express my opinion.

I am not interested in posting my conservative views on anything. The problem is when I or any other conservative posts something refuting someone eles views with facts to back it up we get undulated with hate. What happened to one individual saying what they believe without being ostracized and ridiculed for their beliefs in this country. Are we Americans being led down a path of intolerance and bigotry that we can not agree to disagree without being attacked for our beliefs. America is a nation that was formed on these principles that we can disagree without the name calling and hate mongering that goes along with it. I believe in a free democratic society where everyone has a say, yet society as a whole wants to call anyone who disagrees with it as intolerant and hateful.

Well I think to simply label yourself a "Conservative" invites some criticism. I mean I have plenty of views that are in line with what people define as Conservative and others that are not so conservative at all.

I do really get sick of so many on here who resort to insults and attacks at the mere mention of an even semi Conservative Viewpoint. JB is right, it seems that no matter how much sense something may make, you get someone calling you a "nazi" or an imperialist etc. simply because you are an American who maybe doesn't love Obama or criticizes Chavez. It's just Ironic how some of the more conservative members on this board are constantly accused of bieng ingorant and biased, while just as much of the pre-judgding and ignorance is coming from their accusers.

I am not keeping score, Rocco; however, I tend to believe that the knee-jerk overreactions and personal attacks are - at the very least - equally as common on the other side of the fence. Say one positive thing about Obama and all of the sudden he is your messiah and/or you are a Stalinist. Say one bad thing about Uribe and you are pro-FARC. I am not telling you anything that you do not already know.

Obama is a disaster already. Worse than Bush even. Going from Bush to Obama is going from the frying pan to fire. Obama is redefining the term "budget deficit".

Of course, apologists for Obama will blame Bush. But our "anti-war" president has not pulled out of Iraq, and has greatly increased the US troop commitment in Afghanistan (shitholeistan). I would bet that already Obama is spending more on the military than Bush did.

It's really all about ideology. And in my book the "race" card holds no water when discussing ideology. Aztec, I am sure that you and I have more in common with your Mayor, Police Chief, and School Superintendant than any of us have with muslims from Pukeistan (brown guys like me) or NOI (Nation of Islam) pieces of shit (black guys like your Police Chief).

White, brown, yellow, red, or black muslims are not likely to have charitable feelings to a brown Hindu guy like me or a non muslim guy like you (whatever your race is). It was people of my own brown race (paki muslims) who were terrorizing and murdering Hindus in Mumbai a year ago.

When I criticize Obama (and Bush) in here, I have made no mention of race. I have only talked about policy.

That date, which will live in infamy along side December 7, 1941 and September 11, 2001 as watershed awful, was the date on which 69,000,000 Americans acted foolishly and voted with their hearts rather than with their minds.

Thinking minds should have alerted the American electorate of the dangers inherent in voting for a candidate with no significant experience, a history of unsavory associations, no accomplishments in nearly 50 years of life, and obvious disdain for American culture and history.

Alas, the media-inspired- hatred for George W. Bush was so intense that 69,000,000 voters fell for the smoke and mirrors and the fairy tale promise of CHANGE, without so much as a clue as to what that change might represent."

""""NewsWorld newsRepublicansDemocrat wins long-held Republican seat in New York stateResult shines spotlight on deep and growing rift in Republican party between moderates and conservatives""""

A Democrat has won the race for a long-held Republican congressional seat in northern New York state.

In a race that shone a spotlight on the deep and growing rift in the Republican party between moderates and conservatives, Democrat Bill Owens beat conservative third-party businessman Doug Hoffman.

With 92% of the precincts reporting, Owens, a lawyer and retired air force captain defeated businessman Doug Hoffman, the Conservative party candidate, 49% to 45%.

"This has been an extraordinary journey," said Owens, who thanked his family, President Barack Obama and the vice-president, Joe Biden.

The seat has been in Republican hands for more than a century, most recently by a Republican whom President Barack Obama appointed secretary of the army.

Hoffman did not run on the Republican ticket because local party leaders chose Dede Scozzafava, a moderate Republican state legislator who backs same-sex marriage and abortion rights.

But top national figures in the Republican party, including former Alaska governor Sarah Palin and Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty, both contenders for the 2012 presidential nomination, weighed in and rejected Scozzafava as insufficiently conservative, and endorsed Hoffman.

In Canada we have socialized medicine.

Most people support it, but it has its flaws.

(1) If it is a condition that is not life threatening, it's "hurry up and wait". My now deceased father waited 18 months for a hip replacement. The poor guy had to endure discomfort for a bloody long time.
(2) Even if it is potentially life threatening (even cancer), you sometimes have to wait.

The only people who don't wait in Canada are the politicians. They even have their own special hospital in Ottawa. Do you think Obama and his butt buddies in Congress will wait?

Life expectancy and quality of life, by most measures, of Canadians is one of the highest in the world, so the system works, just some details are harder to deal with. But he still had to wait. However, I will say that he had some good years after the surgery before he died. The surgery was well done.

This JCOH approval is needed by many US based insurance companies for re-imbursements.

Scooby, saw this article on the recent election and thought you may be interested:

But the Democrats' soul-searching is far less compelling than the Republicans' civil war. The "tea party" conservatives -- led by Palin, Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Dick Armey and others fed up with the GOP "establishment" -- managed to get Democrat Bill Owens elected in a solidly Republican upstate New York congressional district. They accomplished this feat by driving the Republican candidate, Dede Scozzafava, from the race because of her apostasy on abortion and gay rights.

The Palinites -- because of her star power, she's the de facto leader of the movement at this point, so it's fair to name it after her -- backed a third-party conservative named Doug Hoffman. Scozzafava pulled out and threw what support she had to Owens, who won by four points.

*****The net result is minus-one for the Republicans and plus-one for the Democrats in the House. That arithmetic seems to have escaped Erick Erickson,***** editor in chief of the Web site RedState.com, which is almost as influential in the tea party world as Palin's Facebook page. He wrote: "This is a huge win for conservatives. ... We did exactly what we set out to do -- crush the establishment- backed GOP candidate."

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele crowed about winning the two governorships. "Assume the Heisman position. Yeah, baby. That's my moment," he said Wednesday on MSNBC. But even Steele couldn't find joy in the New York debacle. "I don't see a victory in losing seats," he said, quite logically.

The tea party people have made clear, however, that logic doesn't count -- and that this is just the beginning. The next target, now that they've made the world safe from Scozzafava, seems to be Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, who is running for the Senate. Crist committed the unforgivable sin of supporting Obama's stimulus bill, and must face a conservative former state legislator, Marco Rubio, in the primary.

Erickson wrote that "if Crist wants to own the mantle of 'GOP Establishment Candidate,' let's tie it around his waist and throw him in one of Florida's many lagoons."

I guess Florida lagoons are a substitute for Siberian tundra
