Computer Printer Operational and Photo Advise Needed

This is embarrassing, but I thought I'd give a try and ask anyways.

I cannot get my printer to print, it is purely an operational issue, keeps telling me that it needs more paper or there is a jam. Frustrating because it is a scanner/fax et al... I had this happen before and got so frustrated I had to but a new one (this one) - But I am not rich.

So, two questions

1) Who do you go to, to fix operational issues with your printer (what kind of service?)

2) What is the best computer program for picture editing? Something user friendly please, I have no need for creating "fake" photos ;)))

A multifunctional machine, I guess is a HP or an Epson, the reference would help. For picture editing Photoshop.

You are right, that is a nice picture you got there.

hi dear...check and see if you have some work backed up in the queue. that usually clears it up. too, go into control panel and make sure you have the right printer on line.

Webman' - thanks - it IS an HP and so was the other one that had the same problem. Is this a common problem (cause it is with me!). Is there a better brand that is not so "delicate and moody" jeje

Douglas - I will double check about work backed up in que...but I deleted it all and the connection was confirmed by the tech. - of course when he saw that it said I needed paper, it was outta his scope and I was on my own.

I have been trying to get it to work for over a month and I have a big project - Argg

Sorry - not 100% sure what you mean by reference? But it is an HP Photosmart 2610xi all in one. Is that what you mean?

I looked at the manual BTW - minimal info on trouble shooting operational issues...especially when what to do when they tell you how to problem solve and it doesnt work...I think this is the LAST one I buy. I think I need to take it somewhere, but dont know who fixes this stuff.

Paper has jammed the HP all-in-one
Solution
1 Press in the tabs on the rear clean-out door to remove the door as shown
below.
2 Gently pull the paper out of the rollers.
3 Replace the rear clean-out door. Gently push the door forward until it snaps
into place.
4 Press OK to continue the current job

......this is how it started - it made loud sound too ( I used correct paper) so I followed steps above and pushed OK - now it tells me I need paper in tray (but there is paper in tray)

NOW THIS
Caution Trying to clear a paper jam from the front of the HP all-in-one
can damage the print mechanism. Always access and clear paper jams
through the rear clean-out door.

I always go into this door - and after the last catastrophie I am even MORE careful when pulling it out. I cannot find anything in the manual that states what to do when it says :no paper" and there is paper. It almost looks like what ever mechanism "raises" the paper up to the rollers is not doing it. The rollers roll and do not touch the stack (I hope this makes sense, so hard to describe)

You are so sweet - I will try a few things again and pray ...I will try my best not to swear jeje

I will pray as well :-) fingers crossed

make sure your paper tray is adjusted to the right size paper, also check if the paper close enough to the feeder or high enough for the sensor too detect it, creating a false paper jam

just curious, kitty, did you go to hp.com and download the correct drivers???

if not, do so...if you did, do it again, it will automatically overwrite and correct any errors.

No I did not Douglas, was not aware that this would correct an operational problem (per the manual). I can give that a try too. Thanks ;)

OK - now I feel like a patient, scalpel in hand, needing my appendix removed and talking on the phone with the surgeon on how to perform this procedure, ajaja

I don;t want to make a mistake and I have no bloody idea wot I am doing..
So before I go further I have to ask

Under the Drivers header it says two kinds
1) Full version - 276.2m (big) 4/2005
2) Basic 37.41m - 8/2004

OK so, which one (I figured the bigger one)
AND are you telling me I install it after downloading - that's all?

OK - thanks ;)

If it is USB turn off and unplug from the computer, the software will instruct you when to plug it in and turn it on.

I would go with the basic

dwmte7 says on Jun 16, 2008, 06:35:

not really, kitty. it's just that when dealing with IT, sometimes nothing works. even when you read the instructions (often a valuble source of info).

one of the early space crafts to mars, which cost a zillion dollars. flies millions and millions of miles. comes up on the planet, begins it's descent to the planet's surface, touches down and the fricken batteries die. what can you say?

you have munchkins....did you ever see the movie, 'batteries not included' an absolutely wonderful movie for all ages. highly recommended. too, 'feifel goes west'...great.

back to the computer issues....

well, as my sod-bustin elders used to say, "....if it's got pudendum (not necessarily in those words) or wheels, it'll give you problems."

well that was thoughts out of the dust bowl and depression. nowadays, we can add I.T. to that list.

i mentioned munchkins as somewhere i thought i read you saying something like getting the kids to bed...my mistake.

the question about the movies still holds. they're wonderful for children of all ages.
