California Fires

Okay.... So, I just wanted to Rant and Rave about stupid people.... This one much closer to home then others....

"With two wild fires ripping through the San Bernardino Mountains and with fire-fighting resources already spread thin, a Hesperia man was arrested Tuesday night for allegedly starting a brush fire on Highway 173."

This kind of asinine stunt, really bugs the crap out of me... Seriously.... The factor that I step outside of work and all I smell is burning wood and then drove through areas on Monday night that were on fire, really ticks me off about dumb people that probably thought it would be funny....

It's not funny, lots of homes lost, lots of misplaced families, it is not a pretty sight. I'm thankful for our firefighters that constantly do the best they can in such dire situations.

they arrested one , caught him in the act of setting a fire. then today they shot another guy dead someone called the police, and when they arrived he jumped in his truck and rambed the cops, they shot him.
now they are saying that all of these fires may have been purposely set, they are investigating.

Hey Scotty, I heard at least one fire, and I get the impression it was the Malibu fire, was set by downed power lines. But there are always weirdos that get off on starting their own fires. I wish all of SoCal my best. Hang in there guys. I never appreciated what it felt like to have my home in imminent danger until I lived in Florida. In 04' and 05', we were affected by 8 hurricanes or storms, and got hammered by two ... though personally my house was fine for the most part. (and when I say "we", I don't mean the entire state ... that was just my area!) Anyway, it isn't a good feeling to wonder if your house is still in existence, if you will have a job to go back to, if, if, if ... terrible.

well of course as in every other event the ideas start surfacing. already some people say terrorist are behind it, some have blamed the illegals, some blames the state and of course some blame Bush. Who knows who gets blamed next.

I personally think some of them were nature caused and some were caused by sick, wacked out individuals.

However, i am also impressed by some of the things the FBI have found in their investigation so far. For example there was a terrorist detained about a year ago that said the terrorist had plans in the works to set fire explosives in certain areas with timers on them to burn at the same time.
Then all the sudden 13 fires start all about the same time...makes one wonder??

I dont think this story is over yet., theres more to come.

Msaucey, I share your feelings. My brother lives in an area susceptible to these fires. However, he's lucky now because the winds blew in the opposite direction from his development. My sister-in-law told me they do smell the smoke, nevertheless, and that the air quality is really bad.

Yup... The air quality is really bad in most citites within a 50 mile radius... I live above the area affected, but drive through in the morning to get to work, but the smoke is getting closer to our part of the world, I could smell the fire about 20 miles from my house and I live like 70 miles from the nearest fire... So, it's spreading....

what a mess, almost 1800 homes and businesses burned down, one million people evacuated, poluted air, whew!

now part two will start, since the fires destroyed so much landscape this will cause some very nasty floods and mud slides when the rain comes.

they are saying now that they believe at least 4 or the fires are purposely man made. They say one of the men arrested is from Guatamala.

Our local TV stations are asking citizens to visit San Diego and LA over the next few weeks and spend money to try and help the economy in Calif, they have taken a beating these last days. They are promoting Sea World and the Beaches , etc really heavy.
Hell i might jump on a red eye special and fly over to SD for 3 or 4 days, they have some great beaches.

Do it Scotty... Coronado is beautiful... It's is still really bad up in our area.... They've cancelled school in most districts, even mine, and like I said, I'm like 50 miles from the nearest fire.... But, the air quality out here is horrible, it is like a never ending camp fire....

What part of the county do you live in?

I lived in Del Mar for a short time. Do you know where the Del Mar race track is? I lived right up the hill from there, nice area.

foolish thought...
maybe they ought to burn one of the arsonists at the stake...that would get the message across.
