ooops! ....Did I say that?

Desideria (Moderator) says on Feb 24, 2008, 03:15:

What time is it there?

It's actually getting closer to lunch time here, but I had a late breakfast, coffee with warm milk, whole-grain dark bread, fried egg in a a cacerola eaten with a spoon (just like they do in Cali jajaja) and an apple.

Desideria (Moderator) says on Feb 24, 2008, 03:36:

Have a lovely night, both of you...I've got to run now, while stores are still open. I'm off skiing tomorrow for a couple of days...will post pictures from the hospital bed where I'll probably end up with a broken leg :)

billyb says on Feb 24, 2008, 03:40:

cross country? or downhill? hospital? i'm guessing downhill then, jaja. Desi make sure you stash a bottle of booze in case you do break something and have to wait for the legal stuff.

ooops! ....Did I say that?

CatGirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:06:

How are you? Where are you? have you talked to GS?

ooops! ....Did I say that?

travelingirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:09:

I'm okay...still haven't done my taxes yet. EEEK! I need to get on the ball, I usually already have them done by now. Talked to GS last night.

Around her hair she wore a yellow ribbon...

CatGirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:10:

Glad you did (with GS)

Me....I'm ready to get my yearly obligation over with, lots of receipts -LOL

CatGirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:12:

Maybe Desi is sleeping in this AM after all the skiing..

ooops! ....Did I say that?

travelingirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:16:

Thank goodness I can still fill out the easy form online and be done with it. I just need to get my papers in order and sit down and do it.
Did you watch the Oscars? I haven't even had the tv on today.

Around her hair she wore a yellow ribbon...

christobeldawg says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:22:

I watched the Oscars, not that anyone asked. Personally, I liked Juno best, though, of course, it was shunned by the bigger, darker flicks.

admittedly, arriving can feel great too

CatGirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:22:

Well, one day....the EZ form goes out the door, hehe. It happens!

Oscars? Nope.- organizing and shredding paper. Taking it easy after throwing out my back yesterday. GS & BillyB tried to bring me back to life. I think it worked ;)

ooops! ....Did I say that?

CatGirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:24:

Hi Dawg.

Good morning! How's the skiing Desi?

ooops! ....Did I say that?

travelingirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:26:

Hey Dawg, I haven't seen Juno yet.
I did look up some of the dresses online and as usual, Heidi Klum was looking fabulous. I just LOVE her dress!

Around her hair she wore a yellow ribbon...

christobeldawg says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:27:

morning Finland[for some reason, that is something I never imagined I would ever say in this lifetime]. hola cg

admittedly, arriving can feel great too

travelingirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:29:

I tried to take a ship from Sweden to Finland but got BEYOND pissed b/c the company wasn't going to give me my discount I was supposed to get. So I stormed off and left Finland behind me. :(

Around her hair she wore a yellow ribbon...

CatGirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:31:

TG - to bad. I want to go too - maybe another cruise, not sure

ooops! ....Did I say that?

travelingirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:33:

If I, or the person I was with, hadn't been so stubborn, we could have paid the money and went but we didn't. I look back and would have done a few things differently on that particular trip, but I was a poor grad student (still am) so it was easily justified.

Around her hair she wore a yellow ribbon...

CatGirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:34:

Hey TG what time is it where you are?

ooops! ....Did I say that?

CatGirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:36:

Un momento...as Desit has her morning bread, I need to pour my milkbath Purrr

ooops! ....Did I say that?

christobeldawg says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:37:

I loved Sweden, and no, not just because of the beauty of the women. There has to be some other reason I loved it. Let me check my old travel logs, and I'll get back with you.

admittedly, arriving can feel great too

travelingirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:38:

It is 12:37am here. Central time zone.

Around her hair she wore a yellow ribbon...

CatGirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:40:

It's so nice to have a forum like this full of people that have travelled and seen the world

ooops! ....Did I say that?

travelingirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:40:

I was in Stockholm for the most part during my time in Sweden. I really liked it. Very clean and nice. I even took a shower at the train station once (don't get me started on why) and it was SO nice and clean and spacious! I guess almost any shower would beat the ones in the Eastern Europe train stations though but that's another story. hehe

Around her hair she wore a yellow ribbon...

travelingirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:41:

I know! A great way to get tips on where to go and what to see! Just the other day Houston was trying to help me out with my upcoming trip to Chicago. I've been once before but never stayed downtown.

Around her hair she wore a yellow ribbon...

CatGirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:43:

Yep...she's a good resource. I might be going to Chicago next quarter too

ooops! ....Did I say that?

christobeldawg says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:45:

does she have wings, or does she travel by plane?

admittedly, arriving can feel great too

CatGirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:46:

haha...I am pretty sure plane. She's in Mexico now, last time I checked.

ooops! ....Did I say that?

travelingirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:46:

Who, Dawg?

Around her hair she wore a yellow ribbon...

travelingirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:48:

Oh, yeah, she is in Mexico! Crazy. She's always hopping around from one place to another. Lucky.

I assumed he was asking about HG

ooops! ....Did I say that?

travelingirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:50:

Houston was telling me that I really need to go see "Wicked" in Chicago (I'm going in April) but I just don't know if I'll have the time. Sounds like it would be interesting though. I used to love The Wizard of Oz as a kid.

Around her hair she wore a yellow ribbon...

CatGirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:51:

I remember that post.....you were concerned about going alone..Hey maybe MedTrav would go with jajaja

ooops! ....Did I say that?

travelingirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:52:

Does he live in Chicago?
And why do I get the feeling that Wicked is NOT for men? lol

Around her hair she wore a yellow ribbon...

Desideria (Moderator) says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:53:

I haven't gone skiing yet. I'll take the night boat to Finland today, but it isn't leaving until 8 p.m. so I have a whole day to get ready. I've packed most of my warm clothes and ski outfit now, have to do a bit of shopping today and haul the stuff over to my daughter's house; I'm leaving my car there and we're taking two other cars to the port.

Too bad you missed Finland, TG. The boat trip is really cheap, especially if you take the day boat and need no cabin. We're taking night boat each way, two cabins and the cars with us, and yet it's not much more than a 100 US dollars per person.

"None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free." —Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

CatGirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:55:

As far as I know - yes

ooops! ....Did I say that?

travelingirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 22:56:

It was the nightboat we were going to take and with this pass thingee we had, they were only going to give us a lounge chair on the deck, not a cabin, for overnight. Argh. I would have been pressed for time though even if I'd went... so maybe it was a good thing--- I can go some other time and spend more than just a couple of days in Helsinki. :)

Around her hair she wore a yellow ribbon...

christobeldawg says on Feb 24, 2008, 23:00:

I love this site. I first expected a few facts about Locombia, and since, I have gotten to know all of you wonderful interesting friends, and I am now always having to check my watch as to where you all are, and what time it is there.

admittedly, arriving can feel great too

travelingirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 23:02:

Goodnight, everyone. I'm going to go read some more in "Love in the Time of Cholera" (I'm finally getting around to reading it) before going to sleep.

Around her hair she wore a yellow ribbon...

CatGirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 23:04:

Nite...Im getting ready too- milkbath is calling me hehe

ooops! ....Did I say that?

christobeldawg says on Feb 24, 2008, 23:06:

good night, oh, and tg, the book was much better than the movie, as usual.

admittedly, arriving can feel great too

travelingirl says on Feb 24, 2008, 23:09:

Yeah, I've heard the movie didn't do the book justice... but like you said, it usually never does. Have you read "One Hundred Years of Solitude"? That's on my list of books to read as well.

Around her hair she wore a yellow ribbon...

goin_south says on Feb 24, 2008, 23:15:

hey Cg... jus don't be 'pouring your milkbath' over desi's muffins, okay?

christobeldawg says on Feb 24, 2008, 23:18:

yeah tg that is definitely one to read, if you ever have time.

admittedly, arriving can feel great too

huskie says on Feb 25, 2008, 03:40:

Good choice in your readings TG, Garcia Marquez is a brilliant writer, his imagination goes beyond any words, never saw the movie Love in the time of cholera, but heard comments that was done in a soap-opera format, therefore I don't think I will be interested in watching it. Have you read News about a kidnapping or Memories of My Melancholy Whores, they are both excellent IMHO
Cheers

christobeldawg says on Feb 25, 2008, 19:35:

Hg you seem to work about 12-14 hours more than me each day. hmmm..

admittedly, arriving can feel great too

houstongal says on Feb 25, 2008, 19:40:

jajaja..... not really! We do work a lot when we're out in the field. But today it was a short day. We left the hotel at 7 and left the office at 5 (takes 30-45 minutes to drive to the office). Since we have drivers carting us around, we're less flexible in our hours. Of course we tend to then go to our room and work until dinner. That's what happens when you have too much to do in a short period of time.

Yawn! It's time for me to rest. Maybe I can hang out with y'all on the weekend. Good night folks!

Another morning in the far north. the sky is sparklingly blue, the spring came with a whole 30 days before it's normal time and there was practically no winter at all. The kids born after 1995 hardly know what snow is like; especially at these latitudes. Finnish kids used to lear how to ski just after they stood up and took their first steps. Now we have to travel 10 hours by car to get to the ski resorts, pay 750 euros for three days in a chalet, ski lift card 60 euros per day, equipment rental 100 euros...plus all the rest at a total of US$1500 so that our kids will have a chance to learn to ski; something that they used to do right off our doorsteps, at the cost of a cheap pair of cross-country skis (often home-made by a handy dad).
