Brain washing pervs in Texas

Just read this article on a sect in Texas http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7348079.stm

"His 10,000-strong sect, which dominates the towns of Colorado City in Arizona, and Hildale, Utah, split from the mainstream Mormon church more than a century ago.

Members believe a man must marry at least three wives in order to ascend to heaven. Women are taught that their path to heaven depends on being subservient to their husband.

Polygamy is illegal in the US. "

Crazy how so many people can be led like lambs into this

we attract alot of these religious nutbags. there was a travesty that occured back in 1993 with the branch dividians in waco texas as well. it ended in the death of everyone inside when janet reno (then attorney general) gave the green light for tanks to engage the complex. the leaders inside torched the place, killing all.

Yeah, i remember watching it on TV at the time, fruitcakes alright. As long as they keep these freeks somewhere where we will always find them, Texas. I´ll have to go traveling along the bible belt one day, would be so much fun.

Can you name a religion, any religion that does not have its own bizarre (to other people) believes, practices and traditions?

Name a major religion and I'll give you a list of bizarre aspects of that religion that believers have been 'programmed' to accept as truth.

To some people "those" (insert any religion) are weirdos; and to them "we" are the weird ones.

Its all perspective. But I won't cast the first stone. Polygamy is not 'outlawed' in major religions. Its a 'governmental or societal' judgement.

Which religions can you name that 'outlaw' polygamy? Don't bother picking up your bible or koran as they are steeped in it.

In the Texas case, the issue is not polygamy, the issue is whether or not minors were induced to marry through coersion.

We are in Colombia right? Don't most of us know many guys who have multiple relationships? For example the guy will have a wife and 3 or 4 other women on the side, some he has children with. In the US we see a highly rated TV show with 82 year old Hugh Hefner living with (and loving) 3 women almost a third his age. I don't hear people complaining about his beliefs and lifestyle as being evil. Therefore, we should stop being hypocritical.

The issue is, again, were those women induced to marry against their will, or better judgement or another coersive device?

Polygamy is a personal choice. Not mine. I have my hands full with one wife. But I've met quite a few people while living and working in Las Vegas who are Mormon and grew up as children in polygamous households. Not one of them appeared to be maladjusted; they were just like everyone else except they had a much bigger family. Only one of them was in a polygamous relationship themselves. They grew up and made the decision whether or not it was the right lifestyle for them.

Like I said, I'm not going to cast the first stone.
