Here's a couple great clips of the Seattle supergroup Mad Season:

nice, tejas. Mark Lanegan and Staley singing together is akin to the wonderful duets of Vedder and Cornell in Temple of the Dog.

I'm glad to have lived in the NW in that era, to have sniffed out those bands before they exploded, to have seen them all in small venues with a handful of people. It was a fun time.

Another great song from the Singles soundtrack (too bad it wasn't filmed back closer to when the film was released):

And metal was huge in the late 80s and early 90s? Seattle killed what had been a pathetic scene for many, many years. Many rock bands were nothing more than cheap parodies of what had been good music. They were formulaic and nothing more than boy bands with big hair and spandex singing sappy love songs. Thank god Seattle helped put those bands out of their misery.

Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, and Alice and Chains were all commercially successful. Stone Temple Pilots benefited from the exposure of those bands and had a lot of success. How about the Foo Fighters, they came about after the scene reached its pinnacle and found success.

The record industry never found another Elvis, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, etc. either...and that is why they end up killing good things. They spend their time looking for groups that sound like "so and so" and look like "so and so" and spend tons of money promoting them...but guess what? They are not "so and so." They are not as talented as "so and so." Their songs aren't as good as "so and so." Then all of the sudden, the market is saturated with half-assed copies of "so and so." And then, nobody wants to hear anything that remotely sounds like "so and so."

p.s. morphus, I do believe some of those awesome metal bands are actually alive and kicking. Poison are actually playing the Oregon State Fair in a couple of days. Brett is even having an aftershow party at one of Salem's lesser known dive bars. I am sure we can get in...nobody actually goes to the bar and I know a waitress! Fly on out, morphus...it'll be a blast. But be warned, if Brett breaks into Every Rose...I may just slit my wrists...jajaja.

There is good hard rock being played today; however, you're not in the loop anymore and it is not the flavor of the month so you're not familiar with it.

I don't think Poison, L.A. Guns or Faster Pussycat ever had it in the first place.
