Another Terror Sponsor Obama Has Promised to Meet: Hugo Chavez

Besides Ahmadinejad, Obama has also pledged to hold unconditional, face-to-face summit meetings with Hugo Chavez.

He heads another regime that sponsors terrorists. By "sponsor", I mean, "offer to help them obtain surface-to-air missiles and training in those weapons."

The front page of today's Washington Post:

Venezuelan officials served as middlemen with Australian arms dealers and agreed to help the [FARC] rebel commanders travel to the Middle East to receive missile training, according to files on computer hard drives seized by Colombian authorities and shown to The Washington Post. In interviews, Colombian officials said they have no evidence that the guerrillas obtained the antiaircraft missiles but added that Venezuelan authorities appear to have provided light arms, thousands of rounds of ammunition and rocket-propelled grenade launchers.

So Cassini when are you Farc terrorists going to release Ingrid? Whilst she is still alive or are you waiting for her to die?

Bravo, Presidente Uribe for the perfect operation!

all this hot air about obama. we don't live in an insular world. we need to talk with folks...

during the second world war, we carried on talks with the nazis, and during the cold war we carried on talks with everyone. the best way to know what the enemy is about is to get to know him. the u.s. up an invades iraq and says it doesn't want to talk with folks. hmmmm

the world is changing fast and new players are coming on the field. pretty soon the only 1st place we can claim is the fact that we have 10 times as many nuclear weapons as the rest of the world put together. so no matter how big the new biggies get, we are still a great big power to be reconed with..... remember, 'the first blast, is the last.

All right, I'll ask: How come it took three seconds to euthanize Eight Belles, but the Womens NBA is starting Year 12???

slguy says on May 16, 2008, 07:26:

esanch...what exactly do you think we've been doing with kim jung il of n. korea? we been talking to this )(*&(*^%^%$#% for the last 20 years. has it done much....no, but it hasn't hurt, either. maybe we should write off all the cuban people as well. or the palestineans, or the venezuelans, et al. that's why diplomats exist. we were in constant contact with the germans during wwII. only mr bush has this hard nosed attitude towards the world. mr reagan, on the contrary, was one to engage all.

Hey doug.....We would have won the Korean War last year but the U.N. , South Korea and China pressured the U.S. to drop sanctions because they did not want to support North Korea (at its collaps) and feed and house the starving people. North Korea is the Greatest failure of the free world!

I am not a big supporter of War but Invading North Korea (not Iraq) would have actually freed people and saved lives. I believe in talk also but the U.N. is nothing but a wet dream.

I mis R.R. we need more leaders like him.

i'm not sure which of these demogeries is the worst, zimbabwe, sudan, burma, congo, n. korea and others. but all of them are pariahs alike. the fact that they're alowed to exist by a consciencious free world is amazing to me. unfortunately with other big players like russia and china who are huge bags of hot air--double speak--and don't give a fuck who's living or dying, it's very hard for do gooders to have any real positive effect. those last two should be kicked off the security council. better yet, the security council should have something like a rotating five year term. then, maybe something could be done. as it stands, russia and china continue to get away with horrible human rights violations while stymiing votes designed to eleviate suffering in the lower developing world.
