If you are going from Rodadero to Bquilla on the coastal highway, just before arriving at Zuana on the right, you would see the property on the left. In other words, it is sort of caddy-corner from the hotel, across the highway. Not sure about the railroad tracks. Does this help any? Thanks for the responses.

xkss2002 comments on Yes Elmo, this was about two years ago that I used your nephew. He seemed to be a decent guy, but was very unreliable, and took advantage of the situation at every opportunity available. I don't mind paying a little additional for exceptional service, but with him I can't say that ever happened. He even kept me waiting about 45 minutes after responding that he would be at my hotel to pick me up in 5 minutes. Several phonecalls later the story was always the same, so I had to hail a taxi from the street, as I was running late for an appointment. Such is life in the big city, and true to form, many Colombians do everything possible to avoid the very little that it would take to win repeat business. That is something that I will never understand about this culture, but I am doing my best to adapt, as I love Colombia even with all its faults. By the way, what is the deal with moto-taxi rental? It seems as though it would be more profitable than taxis, although more trouble if you are not there physically, managing the business. For the same initial investment that you would have in a taxi, you could have 2-3 times the daily income. What are your thoughts? A good GPS locating device would be necessary, to install on each moto in a very inconspicuous location.

I even showed him that the ticket from the window at the taquilla would have been for 18,000, had I used one of the airport taxis. With one short stop and wait along the way, it was hardly worth double. And every subsequent short trip around town was always 1000 pesos more than normal. He also charged me two fares for a short trip where I asked him to wait 20 seconds while I entered a discoteca to see if it was worth the trouble, while my date waited for me in the taxi. No other taxista in Colombia has charged me as if it was a completely new carrera. No thanks. I eliminated his # celular, and now hail taxis in the street, where I am less likely to be overcharged. This is not a commentary against you, Elmo, but rather a heads up to others to be aware that nothing really ever changes in Colombia. It only gets swept down the calle in the next arroyo, to be deposited on the lawn of the next poor sap.

Due to the lowered temperatures, the coral reefs are a bit less inhabited than in Medellin, or Cali, but they are still worth seeing by snorkel or diving. Then in the afternoon a trip to the active volcano at Monserrate is a treat.

xkss2002 comments on Thinking seriously of moving! Yes, Raaaay is pulling your leg, JD. There is no beach in Medellin, which can be enjoyed on 1,000,000 pesos per month!! If you were to choose Bogota as your home, then yes, it would be true, and for about 800-900,000. The only problem is that beach vendors in Bogota are a bit more of a pain in the ass, and that is why people generally prefer to go surfing in Medellin. The SCUBA diving is also better.

I particularly enjoy hearing afterwards the gentle slam of the door as it strikes their collective asses. Why all the drama? It sounds very reminiscent of a Colombian woman making the proclamation. I will say, however, that I find the mystery regarding the other reasons for leaving very tantalizing. I, for one, am very keen to have my mind blown (even more that it is presently), and therefore will stay diligently tuned in to these pages to discover the basis for making such a declaration. I won't be able to sleep nor eat until those facts become revealed, and only hope the news comes sooner than my death. BTW, the art of bizcocho washing is a learned process, and is dependent upon each individual and her upbringing. I have always found my costenas to be very diligent in that regard. Thank you.
