Does one not first get the visa from the Colombian Consulate in the country they presently legally reside?

After the visa comes the cedula?

Or have I just fallen off the turnip truck?

Campbell I have been to Texas a few time in my life and I worked there for a couple of months...I use to go windsurfing there a lot when I was younger....in particular I love the southern part near Texas...now keep in mind the last time I was there was about 10 years ago..so maybe its changed....but I love the south parde area..I think or I did 10 years ago love the natural beauty of the area......I love the ocean and sand....at that time the area didn't have high tourism ...but enough to get along with..... I could see myself buying something on south padre and being close to the ocean and still be close to all the modern amenities that I have grown accustomed to which to a certain extent are missing in Colombia...South Padre which is much like for example Santa Marta....but without all the political shit here in Colombia....also as a Canadian I cannot live in the US until I retire which is still a long way off...so here I am in Colombia and loving it

Do you know any good places to have a wedding reception in Bucaramanga? I just came back from there two weeks ago and loved it. My fiancee' lives near San Pio Parque. I don't want to spend a lot of money, but something nice and has good food. I noticed you lived in Bucaramanga. Also, how is the job market down there? I would love to move down there. Thanks!

hey vicshere. I was reading posts on the visa and paperwork section and you commented that you could help this person find work teaching English in Bucaramanga... is that still a possibility? I am working with a company called AIESEC... at the moment they are making things really complicated so I think I will have to be on my own with this. I will be in B/manga in Decemeber. Anyway you could help me out or offer some advice? Email me, scarby558 at yahoo.com. Thanks a lot :)

vicshere says on Nov 23, 2007, 16:38:

hey ....you will find a lot of discos right in front of the Hotel Chicamocha....I would say there is about 12 -14 with a 3 block area ...there is also a men's club about 1 1/2 blocks from the same hotel.....the area is very safe all night with lots of taxis to take to your hotel....there is more discos on car 33 from about calle 45 down to calle 52.....there are other men's clubs or strip joint but would advise it not for you pretty grungy....the nice one is the one I mention above

elguapoyo says on Nov 23, 2007, 18:09:

thanks vicshere for the quick response, i'll check it out when i'm there, is it the same 1/2 bottle of rum minimum when you go to these places, like in medellin? i ask because i don't drink that much, usually i just give it as a gift to the girl or let other people i'm with drink it all.

Do you have a favorite place out of all the bars/discos you mentioned near Hotel Chicamocha. I also can dance salsa. I'd like to relax with my aguila and talk to normal/working girls without them pushing drinks ect ect., unless i want to of course. Going to the mens club you mentioned would be the backup plan.

i understand you have a restaurant, if i can i'd like to stop by and thank you in person if time permits, i'm supposed to meet a girl in buca also, but don't know how thats going to work out though

muchos gracias por ayudame, Jason

Wow, some people have a lot of free time. I won't waste my time with the children on the board. I'm a certified teacher with more than 5 years experience here and in the US, and have a master's in business. It's a quality school, and I'd put my students up against any other school any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Anyone interested can look through my financial statements and verify them with an accountant and the students.

Vic, as mentioned I will probably go with the higher bidder standing around the end of March or April. I've taught in a few of the other schools here in Medellin and plan on offering the school to some of my teacher friends as well. A six-month rental contract, the lowest I could accept, for the house would save me the trouble of finding a tenant but not compensate me for the value of the school. Discounting the school's assets and income for a present value with conservative numbers gives you a value of at least 5,000,000.

thanks for the reply vic... the wheels are turning now! although that is a bit of cash for the mini it's about half of what I paid for mine here in the states... if I ever to make a permanent or semi perm move to CO that will be very tempting. Although ammo prices would make it painful to shoot full auto a lot. heck even here in the states using cheap Wolf 9mm it still get's a bit expensive shooting 600-700 rounds in an afternoon. hmm well lucky we can practice and target shoot cheaper here in the U.S. and save our CO bullets for business :-)
