fresh fruit in colombia

Hi Can anyone tell me what the top 10 (or so) most popular fruits are in Colombia? Ones that are readily available all year round and relatively inexpensive.

So far I have listed:

Mangoes
Pineapples
Guava
Guanabana
Banana
Marucoya (passion fruit)
papaya
apples
oranges

i forget how expensive strawberries are? I have listed oranges on the list, but I cannot remember.

sending dry products to Colombia

I want to send some dry processed food products to Colombia from the USA. Is it better to ship them using two luggage bags or send them officially using a shipping company. Costs and legal issues are my concerns.

Anyone know if this is illegal? Or I have to pay levies or tariffs on the items?

fast food / restaurant workers

I was curious how much money do fast food / restaurant workers make in bogota / medellin (or colombia in general)?

Do part-time people get paid the same benefits as full-time employees?

mariachis

Hired some mariachis....took em around to apartments of some girls we knew. Had a blast. its 3 am in bogota. I have to say...i{ve seen so much of the city...good and bad...that area of the druggies where they have their own 'democracy' is weird....pretty dangerous and just interesting to see up close...

now i can say i{ve been in downtown bogota at 3 am walking around.

observations

I must say to my limited (so dont harass me, i aint an expert) experience here...I have to say I agree with GIB on many of his points of view. I think the people are very friendly. The people I am staying with are great. Never knew mariachis were mostly drug pushers (or so I was told) and to roll up my window as we rode by them. Some things I noticed...1) the driving is nuts, unless you are a local..wow 2)ppl are abrasive...more than what I am accustomed to 3) Bogota isnt a very clean city 4) gr ...

PBH and the people on here

I just want to write my appreciation for the information (be it accurate or not) and allowing me to make up my own mind. Not having information is worst then being overwhelmed with information I believe. People on here have been very helpful and I want to say Thank You...

I will be making my first trip tomorrow to Colombia to visit a couple of friends from Canada (and former Colombian citizens themselves) that reside there now.

Going to Col. in a couple of weeks. Excited and scared!

Wow, I can't belive it. I'll be going in a few weeks. It will be a major culture shock!!! I've read a lot of the posts on what to do / what not to do, where to go etc.

I'd like to hear any anecdotes from anyone who hasn't posted their experience (first time experiences would be great!) about their times in Colombia (specfically Medellin and then Bogota).

Any additional last minute advice is extremely welcomed and will be much appreciated!

technology jobs and a Canadian

Hi There,

I'm new to this site and I've been reading many of the posts over the last couple of weeks. This board is great and the topics discussed are wide and vast.

I do have a few questione perhaps that people on here can answer. If they been asked before, I couldn't find em in the search.

First: I am looking to go to Colombia in the next few months. I can't wait. The danger/unknown/etc is scary and exciting. I do have a really good friend who is ...
