FARC a terrorist organization? ...apparently not.

This morning, the municipal court of Copenhagen, Denmark found all accused in the danish "FARC support"-case not-guilty of charges. Here's an article from Houston Chronicle prior to the trial. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/fn/5375693.html The outcome of this is quite a surpise since a donation was made directly to FARC's Raul Reyes. As far as I know FARC is on EU's Terror list. Ciao, Valdemar ...

Best beach around Cartagena

When I visited Cartagena back in 2001 the nicest, cleanest and most peacefull beach I could find was Playa Blanca. The extemely annoying sellers on the beaches close to the city seems not only to piss off me but also the colombian vacationers. I am taking my girl to Cartagena in October and we would like to know if Playa Blanca still is the best option? Any advice would be appreciated including how to get there. I am looking forward to visit this colonial pearl again.

Getting engaged -> married... HELP

I hope someone can give me a little advice on this topic from a colombian viewpoint.

In June I am going to see my novia in Cali (and ask her to marry me). I have known her and her family for many years and stayed with them several times while in Colombia. I am of the impression that to "follow the rules" I must ask her parents for permission whereafter we hopefully will acquire their approval. Is this correct ??

Ok, now we assume that this went well.

Ban ANNCOL?

The colombian government has asked the danish government to act against ANNCOL's web server (apparently based in Denmark). This happend shortly after later years controversy, where the movement "oproer" arranged a donation event to collect money for Las Farc. The danish intelligence bureau PET, investigated the case for 2 months without receiving any proof from the colombian goverment supporting the allegation that it should be linked to the Farc. I would like to hear you oppinion on the followi ...

Furthermore does anyone know if there is a direct flight between Bucaramanga and Barrancabermeja ?

Hi, I'm going to work for Ecopetrol in Barrancabermeja for a year or more. Any colombians from around here who can tell me about this place? I have an idea it is not the safest place in Colombia. Would it be possible to leave the city for some exploring or would that not be recommended? What is Barranbercameja comparable to, Barranquilla, Cali, Medellin?? these are some of the places I have been...

Hoping to hear from you

Houston - Colombia

I'm moving to Houston for 3 years within a month. I will need to go to Bogotá, Cali and Cartagena from time to time. Does any one know if there is a direct connection? I'm hoping there is a direct flight to at least one of these cities, but a request on the internet brings me around Miami first.
Also, I need to improve my spanish while I live in Houston and I'm looking for private lessons as I won't be able to meet up in a class regulary. If anyone living in Houston should be interested ...

Minimum salary in Colombia?

I just realised my friend is earning something like 15000 Pesos a day for working in a shop in Cartagena. She works 10-11 hours everyday in this shop and that's all they pay her. What the hell is that all about.. is that normal ?? I would like to know if this is a normal salary level in Colombia, considering it is her first job as a seller. She's selling hats, bags etc. She speaks fluently english and can therefore easily communicate with all the tourists in Cartagnea. It sound to me like crazy ...
