Argentina

There seems to be a small amount of support for an Argentina forum. I've travelled to the country three times but have not seen the country to the degree it deserves... but have seen much of Buenos Aires, Tigre, Iguazu and Bariloche.

If you had two weeks ro spend in Argentina, what itinerary would you suggest?

Lucas Freely, Podborski, Portena know far more about Argentina than I ever will. But I am enthusiastic about the country and will certainly return. I am not shy about posting my limited experiences.

This is clearly your site and you have picked Bolivia, India and Colombia since they fulfill your ideals of poorbuthappy. And I assume Travelicious is a catch-all since many great countries either don't meet these criteria (rich, miserable) or are simply not well known to you (and most of the rest of us). Letting people know about it is a great start. More travel guides would be superb, but without a cheerleader might get outdated quickly. I think you're right.

re your original question man t, I'm too lazy to do a proper 2 week itinerary, but you should think about heading north to see Salta, and the wine growing region just near there, cafayate is the name of the small town there.

Then you should see Jujuy, a pretty decent sized city.

And of course from Salta you have to go to Pujurmarca, Humahuaca, near the Bolivian border. Great scenery, some famous sights like the mountains with different coloured stripes.

One day I'll post some pics of that.

And in another direction completely, I really liked the city of Mendoza, although the surrounding wine region was a bit disappointing...not quite the same look as the vineyards of France and Italy...I found the people of Mendoza to be very friendly, reminded me of colombians in that regard.

Peter, I recommend our friend Lucas Freley! He knows a lot about Argentina.

Kat1, me alegra mucho. Solo me permito una correción...Argentina is a country...not a city...Pero no hay problema.

Depends when you´re visiting. Buenos aires and Iguassu are highlights year round. if it´s summer, best to spend the rest of the time in Patagonia, if it´s winter bettter to go north to salta and mendoza
