travelgoddess comments on Before you snort, take a peak here

Eh? I never said this was the reason I am not returning soon. The EFL job market is the reason for that. Nor did I make any black or white statements about this being the only place where idiots travel or where drugs are done. My message, I thought, was plain and simple. I liked Colombia and was embarrassed that there were, shall we call them, "coke and women" travelers who were making a very bad impression about their/our home country. Thats all. I know this exists elsewhere, but it especially pissed me off there because I like the place.

1. The hangers were NEVER for sale (you do know what FREE means, right?) 2. I dont understand the big deal with checking out other sites. Why would you trust one source for all your info on anything in life? Hmmmm. Steph

travelgoddess comments on are there any HSBC branches in the following cities:

There is only 1 HSBC listed on their website for Bogota, but I have walked by at least 4-5 more. There is one downtown, one in Chapinero, one in the north and the others I dont remember. All had an atm and in inside teller area also.

travelgoddess comments on Airport Taxis in Bogota?

The airport taxi stand is very reliable and safe. So much so that when I arrived at the hostel the driver was confused when I tipped him. After immigration and baggage, exit the airport and turn right (there are big signs for taxis). The person in the booth will write a ticket with the price, location, etc, Then get in the taxi "line" and the officials there will wave you over when they have a taxi for you. Note; they only take pesos, so get cash out at the atms, an odd amount, so that you get smaller bills (example; take out 220,000 instead of 200,000 if possible, so you have a 20,000 available. Another note, if you cant get cash out of the atm and are staying at Platypus, they offer to pay your taxi til you can get to an atm. Contact them directly for more info on this. German, the owner, is a rock! Steph

travelgoddess comments on arriving in S America on Friday

Hey Andy, Sometimes the folks on here get a wee bit silly, shall we say? (grain of salt and all that). If you need any specific info on Bogota, feel free to contact me. Dont know if I will still be here when by April/May...you never know! Steph

travelgoddess comments on Why did you choose Colombia?

I came to Colombia to date 18 year old hot women. hahaha. GOTCHA!!!! Reasons I came: 1. Bad rep in news. No place can be that bad (esp after talking to people who traveled and lived down here, I knew there was much more than we were hearing) 2. Juanes 3. A talked about plethora of ESL teaching jobs 4. diversity of climates and such 5. friendliness of the people Why I am still here, ah, thats a whole other post that I should write after a few more months/years, IF I am still here. Steph

travelgoddess comments on Looking for room to rent in Bogota (urgently in 10 days)

Oh come on guys, $400 USD is a lot!!!! I have only been here a month, but checking out El Tiempo (newspaper) lately and realizing how much I am paying for my own (soon vacated) apartment. I strongly advise you to stay at the Platypus Hostel in La Candelaria and search for a place the first few days you are here. Its fairly clean, has great wifi (and internet computers if you are not bringing one), and is close to public transit. Not to mention German, the owner, who, quite simply, ROCKS! Steph

This is HILARIOUS. For the record, Colombian men ask the same question. Not sure I am as YES to both, but what the h***! Steph

travelgoddess comments on Why PBH drives people away (and how do y'all have SO much time on your hands to be pricks like this?)

Nice one. And this would be WHY people complain about this site. hmmm. posted a for sale sign cause I would rather sell them than dump them into a landfill. And since when do brand new blankets have zero worth? You know what, forget it. I will find another place to post from now on, this is ridiculous. Steph

travelgoddess comments on HP Laptop for sale in Bogota

would rather have the funds than the computer. And want to travel overland to Chile and not worry about something happening to it on the way.

travelgoddess comments on Bogota Hostel

Great price, dunno, but the resources that are available there are fantastic! As for safe, its not the best and not the worse, just use your street smarts at night and you will be fine. Their wifi rocks also!

travelgoddess comments on Writing Group

Yeah, I AM famous! haha Yup, Thorn Tree, Hostel.com, Hostelworld.com, travelgoddess.net (some guy has MY .com site and wont give it up!), and many more. I am a recovering web-head. Although not really recovering too much, just moving my own bloggy butt into print. The handle and offer for info online will, however, remain.

travelgoddess comments on Writers Group in Bogotá

I am VERY interested and would even host the first one if needed. Although I have to admit I just moved into my place and it would be a floor sitting experience. Plenty of room though. I write travely stuff, and you guys? I think this is a brilliant idea!!!! Steph dstephfuccio at yahoo.com

If you're not a part of this travelicious experiment just yet, just sign up here. It's free & easy.
