Tolimense comments on Bashing paisas

Aun no he vuelto ni quiero regresar.

Never had a problem with a bill in a hotel room except finding a scorpion at the Bogota Plaza. Got a free stay for the weekend but was a bit surprised, the manager wrote me a letter of apology and explained that it was an isolated case. I did have a similar situation renting a car at the airport where I was demanded more money. The extra fees after a week rental were 16 percent (IVA or tax) and another 10 percent (city tax) tacked on to the bill. It turned out to be appropriate fees but was caught of guard by the extra unexpected costs. Stay safe.

Doc, I apreciate the additional information. Please keep me inform on any of their progress. Lets keep them honest. I do not have any plan "B" is there another provider? At this point, it seems that it might be a while before the lines are stored. I am consulting my lawyer tomorrow to add pressure. Have you been to the Sofitel Altamira? That Altamira is the most inexpensive Sofitel per nightly stay in the world. There are only 4 Sofitels in Colombia, Ibague has the most inexpensive Sofitel in the world. I do enjoy their Italian restaurant and its scenery of the mountains from the 8th floor. A bit expensive to stay the night but for only 15,000 pesos they grant passes for full use of the pool an its facilities. Wonderful mopuntain views, pool, spas, baths and tennis courts. Avoid ordering Cerveza it becomes every expensive quickly. Hidden jewel. Once again, Thanks!

Doc, here is a good article. http://www.desastres.org/noticias.php?id=21072008-08 Like always they down play the extent of the damage. Another day and nothing gets fixed. Have you heard anything new? Best,

Hello Doc, I have tried calling from the states but their phone lines are down. Who would have figured? Kind of funny though. Yesterday, an employee was told that tomorrow Wednesday most lines will be up and running. I am hoping that we could be one of those lines. I have three land lines, a fax line and broadband, not one of them works. For the amount of money they charge us it would be great to see some kind of an indemnation. Highly doubtful from them but we will be persistent. Best...

Hello, I am currently in Charlotte. I travel back and forth conducting business around Colombia and Venezuela. I own a security company in Ibague but have not been there in a year. I simply have not had the time to visit. Where does your son live in NC? This state is growing quiet rapidly.

Hello, Do you know when the telephone lines are going to be fixed? Besides, the phonelines the internet is also not working. I have a company in Ibague (colombiacards) www.colombiacards.com and my new clients have not been able to reach us. I have to relly solely on cell phones to reach my employees which can be very expensive. I am really pissed off about this situation and frustrated that there is nothing that can be done to speed up the process. That company is always broke and management there are a bunch of useless idiots. My uncle worked there for 5 years before taking a job in Mexico out of frustration with his short minded managers. Best of luck in Ibague. Maybe, someday we can have a up of coffee there.

Tolimense comments on Hotels in Cali

Hotel Intercontinental I just got back from staying at the hotel intercontinental in Cali and to my surprise they are still renovating it after more than 3 years. I believe the top three floors are shut down for renovations and you can hear the hammering early in the morning at least in the third floor which is where I stayed. However, the hotel is very clean, comfortable and well kept. The attention is five star but for $270,000 (115 dollars a night)including a buffet breakfast it better be. Inside there is an olympic size pool, jacuzzy, sauna and a gym. There is also a casino, a piano bar lounge and two very nice restaurants with sit on bars. I do not recomend the casino, but the night bar is very classy and private. No night club but within walking distance you can find what ever suits your needs. Note, nearby there is a Cigar store, La casa del Habano, which is the only store garanteed to sell original cuban cigars. I believe it is the only one in Colombia. Best of luck.
