tkutlow comments on motorcycling to colombia I just moved to Pereira and would like to buy a motorcycle. I´m not a newbie. I¨ve been riding for over a decade and currently own a suzuki sv1000 in the states. I´m looking for something second hand, in half decent condition, and large enough to tour with. If anyone has any leads please send them my way. Thanks!

tkutlow comments on Work Visa Questions I'm planning on going to the Colombia consulate in NYC this week to apply for my work visa. If everything goes well, how long should it take?

tkutlow comments on Pereira or Cali? Etc... I'll be moving to Periera the end of July (2007). I'm not concerned that it will be nice. I've learned that there are things to admire and appreciate no matter where you are. It's really all in your attitude.

tkutlow comments on Teaching English in Cartagena? I'll be teaching science at an international school in Pereira. I wouldn't mind making some extra pesos teaching English. BTW, that's exactly what I've been doing this past school year (in Taiwan).

tkutlow comments on I almost got shot! be careful out there! a little concerned I've read all the posts in this thread and can't help but be a little concerned. I'll be moving to Periera the end of July '07. I wear a gold chain around my neck. I'm almost forty and I've been wearing it for the past 20 years, never taking it off. Should I leave this in the U.S.? I also wear a watch. It's worth about $200. And a ring worth about $600. Would it be unwise to wear these?

tkutlow comments on Cost of Living for 1 Month in Colombia Thanks everyone Thanks to everyone that took the time to comment. I hope we can meet when I move to Periera.

tkutlow comments on Cost of Living for 1 Month in Colombia I should have explained something Tomtom33 and others: I should have explained that I'm a school teacher in the U.S. As a teacher in the US I was making twice that amount but I wasn't able to make much of a dent in my Visa bill due to the high cost of living. What I'm really asking is: Is the salary good relative to the cost of living in Colombia? Ideally I'd like to send 200-300 dollars home every month. Is that possible or am I kidding myself?
