Best place in Bogota for laptops

My stepdaughter wants a 'pink' laptop for La Navidad.. and not sure where the best place to purchase would be. I have spoken to someone at a call center for Dell Canada and they told me that there wasn't a Spanish version of Vista...so that ends that! I wasn't sure if it was better to purchase here or purchase in Bogota and take my chances. Any suggestions or advice would be welcome! Thanks guys......:) ...

Christmas in Melgar

Hola peeps... I am looking for info on hotels or equivalent for a visit during the Christmas season as I don not want to spend my time in Bogota. Was advised by a Bogota notary that my birth certificate had expired. Of all the paperwork required for a marriage in Colombia, everything doubly certified by both Canadian notaries and the Consulate of Colombia, just my 'Birth Certificate' is expired. When I mentioned this to the staff at Vital Statistics Canada, everyone broke out laughing! What kind of logic do they have in Colombia? My fiance and her 11 yr old daughter is moving to Bogota from Barranquilla due to some family problems and I thought that someone here might have some ideas for us. Bringing gifts into Colombia

I am travelling to Colombia next Friday and was wondering about the gifts I want to bring. Can anyone advise if there is a limit... dollarwise.. on the value of these gifts or will I have a problem just because I bring gifts. Last time into Colombia I had just finished some work in Chile so all I had was work clothes. I can't remember what was included on the paper I filled out when entering Colombia.

Best way transport from Barranquilla to Cartagena

Hello group.... I am heading to Barranquilla next week and will be staying first night in the Dann Carlton hotel before heading out to Cartagena for a week with my fiance. I have been advised about the bus travel and the frequent stops by the police for paperwork checks... but I have to wonder if the taxi route is really an alternative.

I am looking for an apartment with a one year lease, preferrably furnished ....especially air conditioned, with normal amenities...such as laundry facilities, etc.

This lease would commence approximately June 2007 thru June 2008. Payments would be guaranteed through MBNA Mastercard.

Colombian tax structure?

If I was to support someone in Colombia, are they subject to an income tax? This may be short term or long term. I understand when I send money via Western Union, they deduct a 'tax' at payout. It is not much but it is a tax nonetheless. If the party was to set up a bank account and money is wire transferred...what taxes would be levied if any?
