Sylvie comments on Have job, fiancé, friends, but no spanish!

Malena, if you find any english websites with information on all language schools in Colombia could you please send it to me? Thank you

Sylvie comments on Have job, fiancé, friends, but no spanish!

How about in Cali? How about spanish schools in Cali? What types of people go into these schools? Is it young people or older people? I want a classroom though, not private. Is there lessons where you can pay by month?

Sylvie comments on Babies, Ex-Wives, and Mother-in-Laws

I maybe young but I'm not a lazy dead beat father who uses the lack of justice in the law as an excuse not to get off their ass and travel a bit to see their kid once in a while. Yeah sit there and cry like a little baby about how unfair the court is to men. Be a man for crying out loud not a baby.

holy shit some of you guys make me sick. Shameful really. I’m done with this site. It is an embarrassment to the human race.

Sylvie comments on Gay Life in Bogota

it is always the cute ones that are gay. :-(

Sylvie comments on Babies, Ex-Wives, and Mother-in-Laws

I'm honest. I think it should be illegal for people who can’t make efforts to see their existing children to have more children.

I quite frankly don't give a crap about a 33 year old adult and his Colombiana who is begging for a child from a guy who's family doesn’t even like her. I'm more concerned with the existing daughter he gave up on.

Sylvie comments on Babies, Ex-Wives, and Mother-in-Laws

Excuses excuses, if you cared, you'd find a way to see your daughter. You've basically given up on seeing her. You shouldn't.

Sylvie comments on Babies, Ex-Wives, and Mother-in-Laws

I would never have a child wi WHo in their right mind would want to have a child with someone that doesn't even know where his own daughter lives? I'd find it rather stupid to have a child with someone just to be on an even playing field with some other woman.

wow! you're conserned about this but don't know where your daughter lives. hmmm, something seems wrong here.

Sylvie comments on guess the gringa

Got to like the white trash girls. If it weren't for them, who would pump gas into my car?

Sylvie comments on Jose, Pepe, Pepito...

Thanks for the infor everyone. I called him "Pepe" and not "Pepito" but maybe he still felt offended.

I'll just watch what I say next time. hehe

Sylvie comments on Jose, Pepe, Pepito...

Oh great. I called this guy a penis. Wonderful.

I can only imagine what he's telling his friends about the girls at school.

Sylvie comments on What is the difference between Alejandra and Alejandro?

Alejandro Sans has a sexy voice. I'd marry him just for his voice.

Sylvie comments on Stratas??? Can someone please explain...

Crazy Eagle, I;ve done my fair share of volunteer work around the world not just in South America. My family gives away 4 university scholorships every year to business students who come to Canada from a developing country. Full scholarships.

Dont tell me to do what I've already done. Thanks.

The reason I dont know anyone in COlombia that lives outside strata 6 is because when I visit my friends and family will not let me go to those places. My friends and I have to walk around with security. THey dont let us go to the very poor areas for fear that something may happen to us.

Sylvie comments on Stratas??? Can someone please explain...

all the people I know in the strata 6 are in the shipping industry like my dad. that is how I know them.

Most of them have other houses in Barbados, Miami, New York, Montreal, UK, Spain and France.

Sylvie comments on Stratas??? Can someone please explain...

All the Colombians I know live in strata 6 and they're pretty well off. I think six, and five are pretty much like north american upper middle to upper class with 6 being highest class. 4 and 3 are like the North American middle class while 1 and 2 are lower class and below poverty line.

Sylvie comments on Strata & Class Comment from a Colombian Woman

Albatross, all the things you've mentioned can be bought. What I meant is that women can have careers, social lives and kids without husbands.

If any woman wants to have children they can easily just pay for artificial insemination.

Sylvie comments on "el chico district" in bogota

I'm not sure but the name "el chico" makes it sound like its the gay district. hehehe

You may get hit on a couple of times but I'm sure you'll be safe. :-P

Sylvie comments on Strata & Class Comment from a Colombian Woman

"No man will ever marry you if your attitude is "Screw you, I can do whatever I want to do." "

Whoever said that? I certainly didn't.

Sylvie comments on Strata & Class Comment from a Colombian Woman

WS244 I'd really like to know what you're scared of. I get the feeling that if there weren't any traditional ladies left in the world you'd be single.

Sylvie comments on Strata & Class Comment from a Colombian Woman

adrimm I see what you mean but when I said "unaccepted" I meant it was "less socially accepted" than today. For example, when my mother decided to go to university instead of getting married right out of highschool my grandparents feared that there was something wrong with her. They were also afraid that "the neighbors" would think there was something wrong with her for wanting to continue school instead of getting married and becoming a housewife. She was actually the first woman in her family to ever finish highschool and go to University. From what she told me, she was one of only 8 girls that graduated in business.

And now that I think about it I have yet to have a female professor at the post graduate level here in Montreal. Maybe it is just a coincidence but I’m looking at the school directory and there aren’t many female professors at all except in the Arts and Science department. And although it may sound strange it is quite possible that the women of Colombia in the 60s and 70s were more "liberated" like your mom and her classmates because I've met a number of older Colombian women doctors and dentists.

Sylvie comments on Strata & Class Comment from a Colombian Woman

I think some men (or more like boys) feel threatened by the fact that they're being replaced in the lives of women by careers. Lets face it, women today don't need men like they did back in the 70s 60s and so on. Back then it was difficult for women to get well paying jobs and it was not socially accpted that they go to univeristy.
Luckily today, women are able to have money, house, social lives, and children without men. I think some guys are threatened by that because they're affraid of not being needed.

I say leave those types of men to the lazy women who wont bother lifting a finger to earn money. Let them sit around the house all day and get lonely and realize how much their lives suck when they have to ask permission to buy a new purse. :-D

Sylvie comments on i have this odd feeling :(

You'll notice that I actually started off using the word stupidity then for some reason switched to stupidness....I don't know why.

In any case both stupidity and stupidness are in the oxford dictionary. So I suppose it has become accepted.

Sylvie comments on Strata & Class Comment from a Colombian Woman

Viewpoint Your friend seems to be very intelligent. Her and I seem to be in similar situations.

"Plus, for tough cookies is worse: we are a highly desired "prize" but at the same time a feared and resented competitor........nice ah? wanna switch?"

She is an intelligent tough cookie so that makes for two obstacles when meeting guys because those characteristics makes some guys scared. But from what I've witnessed it is the non-educated and dim guys that are scared of the successful tough cookies. It's best for her and women like her to find a nice intelligent and emotionally secure guy. There are some out there and they're great :-D

Sylvie comments on i have this odd feeling :(

kernow you naughty boy! I hope your wife hires a really hideous babysitter :-P

Sylvie comments on Colombian wife's weight gain

I like people who follow the bible word for word and preach it word for word but are living in sin because they are living with their girlfriend (not wife) back in Bogotá. hahaha Sinner!

Although its tough to know with WS244 because he blatantly made up some story about a girlfriend last week and now a wife of five years. Lying is a sin too.

Better go repent WS244 :-)

Sylvie comments on i have this odd feeling :(

I find it HILARIOUS when people can't debate properly so instead of presenting facts, proper evidence, or reasoned opinion they go on talking about the other persons use of language. hahahahaha

You throw around the word class as if you knew the definition. You CLEARLY DON"T. http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=class

Sylvie comments on Colombian wife's weight gain

In countries such as Sweden, Norway, Germany and Canada women can have careers and raise their children. These countries give women rights that they need. In these countries and in the US if these women lose their husbands they dont have to worry about becoming poor and homeless. Some people like WS244 are opposed to such types of government because it gives women rights and gives them a little bit of power to lead their desired life.

You’re talking about North Americans countries and what I'm talking about is the ridiculous idealization of a society in which women are barely given any rights (like most South American countries and Middle Eastern countries). It’s not right to have women put in their place by men. Remember women are humans too, they’re not pets. Just because the bible says we can treat women like property doesn't make it right.

Sylvie comments on Colombian wife's weight gain

Not Colombian, wasn't born there. Currently living in Quebec but have lived in many other countries. My relationship with my dad is very close. He's a handsome guy with a wicked sense of humor. He treats the garderner and the garbage man the same way he would treat the Queen of england or the Pope. He's a very smart man and I think him and my mother did a very good job of raising me and my brother.

When my brother and I were growing up they praised us on our accomplishments. They thought creativity, intelligence, health, independence and kind heartedness where things that were more important. We were praised when we helped people, when we did well in school, when we made drawings, crafts and paintings (although I was not the best artist, lol)
Emphasizing importance on superficial things such as weight, skin color and gender roles weren't high up on the list of important things. My parents wanted me to become someone who loved themselves and their life.. and they succeeded! :-D

How could someone possibly love themselves and their life if they have no goals in life except for cleaning a house and watching kids and depending on someone else for income? Especially when that person is in fear of losing that dependancy over issues such as infidelity and weight gain.

I’d rather live in a society were woman have rights and aren’t dependant on men. Not because I’m anti men. I love men just as much as the next heterosexual female, but I don’t believe that a woman should be forced to live in fear of being left and broke.

One of the main reasons that divorce rates are low in Colombia is NOT because women like being dependant on men but because they sort of have to be. When it comes to divorce in Colombia and many “traditional countries ex-husbands are rarely forced to provide money for their uneducated ex-wives or their children. WOmen end up with no security after their divorce. Some women even put up with infidelity, verbal and physical abuse from their husbands because it is better than living with out money. How sad is that? It literally breaks my heart.

And although I'm not 100% sure of this I bet many of the Colombianas on those dating sites are looking to live in the US and Canada because there is more security for them. If they're husbands go find a younger piece of tail in the city over they dont have to worry about ending up on the street and poor.

Sylvie comments on just got back fr COLOMBIA MODA!!!

go2pr I when in South America I'm not forced to make remarks about guys who talk about eating out butts because the guys I hang out with are gentlemen. They may talk about it amonsgt themselves but I have never heard that type of nasty talk around my group of friends and family in Colombia.

I suppose their mothers tought them not to speak about eating poo infront of women. This is a topic about fashion so its obvious that women are going to want to read the thread.

If people want to talk about groos things its almost inevitable that someone will get grossed out.

Sorry I'm not like the latinas who indulge in the poop eating conversations. Now that is classy, right?

Sylvie comments on Colombian wife's weight gain

ws244 "Of course liberated women do not take advice from clergy of the church, and regard nuns are nothing but slaves to the Priests.
As usual liberated women believe in secular societies, for they do not perceive the church as a mechanism for social order and values, but rather an institution formulated by males in history for no other purpose than to control women. "

yup, you have us all figured out. Down with the church! haha

Sylvie comments on i have this odd feeling :(

Poco, it is very easy for the simple minded to discredit the many insightful writings of a non-conformist. Sadly, when an individualist, such as Leary, contributes as much as he did to the study of sociology, there will always be brainwashed sheep to discredit him (due to the fact that are far too easily influenced by conformist society.)

I'll give credit to a published author of over 40 published writings on the social sciences before I give credit to some 59 year old narrow minded man who has the occasional brain fart and keeps repeating the same thing over and over again without actually backing up his statements.

Your claim that I suffer from obsession compulsion personality disorder is laughable. I'm simply refuting his assumptions with facts. You do know the difference between facts and opinions, right?

Poco, if I were you I would be less concerned with my supposed disorder and more concerned with your debating skills. If one should want to provide good and proper evidence to back up a statement they must provide accurate, precise, sufficient, representative, authoritative and clear evidence. Your comment of “probably less than 50% of the women in the world share your views is a perfect example of poor debating skills.

Rubiazo w244 isn;t just a troll but he's also a fibber. One week ago he has a girlfriend and one week later its his wife of five years.

odd, no?

Sylvie comments on Colombian wife's weight gain

you're randomness is laughable.

Sylvie comments on Colombian wife's weight gain

someone as large as she is could have serious heart and breathing problems.

My only advice would be to tell her you're concerned for her health.

Sylvie comments on Colombian wife's weight gain

UTC You know how I am. I always back myself up with proof I've done it for you in the past. I'd be more than glad to give any one on the forum the names and email addresses of the people who I worked for. But I warn everyone that they're very persistent and determined people and will convince you to come and help them. lol

Sylvie comments on Colombian wife's weight gain

Sylvie comments on Colombian wife's weight gain

He thinks women should live under the rule of men. He's stated it.

Some women who live under the rule of men in this world get their genitals mutilated. It's not nutty its reality.

Educate yourself on what's going on in the world and you'll realize how nutty he is.

If I get banned for my beliefs then so be it. It's no skin off my back. Some of the stuff I read on these boards is shameful to the human race, I wont miss it a bit.

Sylvie comments on Juanes T-shirts... plus other colombian shirts

cool My sister in law and I are big Juanes fans. I think I may buy one for her.

Sylvie comments on Colombian Coffee

What are the rules with regards to bringing any type of food back to the United States? I got my nuts confiscated when I went to the Miami airport from Colombia. The cute little doggy sniffed them out of my bag. I was told by the officer that since they were not factory packaged that I couldn't bring them in.

But other times I've brought some very odd unpackaged food from other places in the world and never was told anyhting.

Sylvie comments on Colombian wife's weight gain

quinceanera It has nothing to do with gender. It has to do with aweful people (male and female) who think its ok to treat others as second class citizens.

Sylvie comments on i have this odd feeling :(

I have no resentment towards men. I have resentment towards people who cant treat all humans as equals. And I'm just refuting your ridiculous accusations. Stop stating things about me that aren't true and you wont see me writing any more about myself. Thought that was common sense....but you don't seem to have much of that.

You still haven't told me what about these oppressed women I'm jealous of. Face it you're an awful person and should be ashamed of yourself.

Sylvie comments on Colombian wife's weight gain

UTC I never claimed to be a Nobel Prize winner. Although I wouldn't expect much else from you other than you're smart ass remarks. And you wonder why you get hateful private messages...

Sylvie comments on Colombian wife's weight gain

ws244 I haven't accomplished anything in life? Oh really? There isn't enough space on the PBH server to list the things I've accomplished in life. I'm 23 years old completing my MBA with grades that could lead me right into a PhD. I've traveled and worked in many countries and am proud to say that I've contributed to the development to many of those countries I visited. All the work I've done in Africa, Eastern Europe, and South America was done out of my heart. I've been to places where you probably don't even know exist. I've met, hugged, danced and shared stories with the types of people that you could only wish in your wildest dreams that you could meet. I've been to places where I've helped "traditional women" (that you love so much) avoid having their genitals mutilated, helped educated them on HIV/AIDS. I've also helped these traditional women have the right to attend school without getting raped while walking to school. Quite frankly, the reason that many of these women suffer is because they’re being controlled by men who agree with ideas like yours. In my opinion that makes you an awful person, and an awful Christian. Foul language is the least of my concerns while awful and despicable human beings with ideas like yours exist.

Not many people, including one's a lot older than me, can say that they've accomplished and seen as much as I have. I feel darn good about it and I'm proud of it. I truly feel sorry for those people who haven't been as enlightened as me, I really do.

Sylvie comments on i have this odd feeling :(

I'm jealous of what? The fact that I don't have to whore myself out to dirty old men like yourself in order to be able to buy myself clothing and car. Jealous of non-educated women who can’t work and earn their own money? Jealous of women who are stuck at home all day cleaning dirty bums, clothing, floors and everything else and then having to ask for money from some guy in order to buy some new shampoo or a lipstick? Jealous of women who live in constant fear of being left by their husbands with no money, no job and no education? Jealous of having to do "Sexual acts" with men they don’t love in order to have a roof to live under?

hmmmmm, let me think about it. I DONT THINK SO! It’s more like I have sympathy for them. I love being an educated woman. I love the fact that once I graduate I'll be making more money in a year than you'd probably make in 5 years. I'll be able to work and have as many kids as I want and I'll be darn proud in the fact that I'll be buying them the best education that I can. And be extremely proud to show any daughters I have that women are important to society and that if they won’t feel the need to whore themselves out to guys like you in order to eat, shop and enjoy life. They'll marry for the right reasons not the wrong ones like you want your traditional women to do. I have everything I want and life and even more. I love my life and everyone in it and I dedicate much of my time to help men a women find the same love of life. Jealousy doesn’t exist in my vocabulary.

And as the great Timothy Leary said "Women who seek to be equal to men lack ambition"

Sylvie comments on Colombian wife's weight gain

Must point out more stuipidty "If i become fat i did not keep my part of the bargain, and she has a right to do about it as she sees fit. "-WS

With your logic...or shall I say, lack thereof. Any changes that you go through after marriage give her the right to divorce you. So if you age and get even uglier than you were when she married you then she could dump you? Because after all that is not who she married. She married a young guy. When you start to suffer from erectile dysfunction as most aged men do, then she should have the right to dump you because she married a guy who could function. If your hair goes grey or falls out its totally ok to dump you straight away because she married a guy with dark and fuller hair.

And the list can go on....Truth of the matter is that I'm 23 years old and already have discovered that superficial and shallow people are typically the most unhappy and emotionally empty people in the world. You're 59 and you still hold importance on how white and how thin and traditional your "wife" (so you claim) is.

Don't know about you but I've accomplished a lot more in life than just staying slim. Seems rather silly to hold such importance on a few pounds and skin color rather than education, success, achieved goals, friendships, kindness and so on…

Sylvie comments on i have this odd feeling :(

ws244 you still have no clue of what your talking about. Doubt you've ever been to Greece or Turkey.

For 59 years old you're quite stupid. And you sound like a bible thumper. Speaking of no class. Guys who brag about how white their internet girlfriend who spends their money back home is not the ideal definition of tact.

boy does the stupidness on this site amaze me!

Sylvie comments on Colombian wife's weight gain

I smell a fibber. Just last week she was your girlfriend and now she's your wife? And you guys dont even live in the same country?

Odd.

Sylvie comments on Are Most Columbian Players?

There are good guys and bad guys in every country.

I've met some very great guys from Colombia so I dont think that all Colombianos are players.

Sylvie comments on i have this odd feeling :(

She claims that she wont run. But if she ran against a male republican I'm afraid she would lose.

If she ran against republican Condie Rice then she might win because people dont seem to like what Condie did before and after September 11th.

Anyway this has nothing to do with W224's stupid uninformed comments.

Sylvie comments on i have this odd feeling :(

ws244 Firstly, all this talk against strong women makes you sound jaded. I bet your wife or wives have left you at one point in time because you didn't treat them right.

Yet more stupidity fom you...

""Yes, greece, turkey, spain, and thailand, all wonderful vacation hotspot countries where liberated women go but ignoring the fact in these same countries women know their place, and the men are in charge no different than in colombia.""

Some of the largest companies in greece are run by women. Not only that but women hold more than half of the governments highest positions. More than half of the board and the organizing commitee for the Olympics in Greece was women. The mayor of Athens is a woman and she keeps getting re-elected time after time. The rate of women who hold political positions in Greece is not very high like other european countries BUT is still higher than the UNITED STATES.

Turkey is slowly becoming one of the more liberal muslim nations. More women in turkey are getting their masters and PHds than men in turkey. They have taken over schools and are slowly becoming more popular in the business world. Turkey's prime minister, the leader of the country between 1993 and 1995 WAS A WOMAN.

Inform yourself before you speak. YOu talk about the liberated women of the US yet its a fucking country that no woman will ever be president of in the near future. And so far Condeliza Rice (in 2004) was the only woman in US history to hold as high of a position as she does.

Sylvie comments on Colombian wife's weight gain

Well if you're Colombian and you want to marry someone of the same nationality as you in order for your kids to be more colombian then its reasonable. Same reason why i'd marry an italian.

But I cant understand how some guys can purposely go out of there way to find a woman who is desperate to leave her country and is willing to marry almost any gringo to do so.
