Hi Guys,
I recently met this young woman her name is Jolanda. She WAS working for one of my enlgish students mothers as a cleaning lady full time.
After a few weeks of not being paid we both were forced to quit the job where we met. Anyway so now she has NO job and I can only affoard to employ her FANTASTIC cleaning services once a week. (I pay her 20,000 pesos, and give her some food)
Her husband recently left her for another woman and only gives her 100,000 ...

Hi all, After getting married on thurs 13th my husband and I got dressed in conservative casual and went into the immigration office near park 93 at 7.30am nice and early as advised by someone on this site and handed over the 380.000 pesos for the visa along with the paper work.
The guy only took the letter from my husband saying how he would support me and my passport tourist visa photocopies.(they did not take my letter of intent or all the used pages of my passport copies)
The wedding was in Centro at 8am. I spent the night with my expat girlfriends in La Candeleria and we walked down to Notaria 12 and met my Husband-to be there. There were also about 150 men straight out of jail lining up outside another office next door to get their new cedulars, along with loads of riot police! Did i pick a spot or what!
But it was fine, they saw me with my flowers all dressed up andwith girlfriends in tow and guessed the occasion so the comments were pretty pol ...

My partner and I recently went to get some information on what you need now to get married here in Colombia at the notarias office.
We were told the usual stuff like proof that your not already married, and a birth certificate but they also said that you need a "seal" from the consulate in your country.
Im confused? Now that the law has changed so that we can now marry a colombian on a tourist visa what do you need a seal from the colombian consulate in your country for?
Night buses in Colombia
I just want to caution people about night buses in Colombia. Took a bus from Santa Marta to Cartagena- beforehand checked with my hostel how safe it was in terms of checkpoints, attacks etc - forgot to ask if the driver would actually be able to drive. Hit a speedbump at high speed and we all hit the ceiling. My friend and I really hurt our backs. Then the driver swerved all over the road, until the Colombian passengers screamed at him to stop, and ...
Hi everyone,
Im back! Well not yet Im in N.Z about to come back to Colombia via Miami and will be there shortly. The question I have is...My partners father said that DAS has recently stated that as of the end of this month no person holding a foriegn passport is allowed access to Colombia unless they have an "electronic" passport.
Has anyone else read this anywhere? When they say "electronic" do they mean the ones that have electronic chips or the ones that are readable by ...
Tomorrow is no car day in Bogota! Should be nice. But still the fume spewing buses, although I think it will make a real difference to the air quality.I think it would be safe to bet that this day is the one day of the year with the lowest road deaths.
Wow to see the streets without chaos....can´t wait.
Has anyone else been in Bogota on the no car day....anything fun to do? that you would recommend? Are the streets full of people walking? Is it a public holiday? ...
I recently went to the DAS office in Bogota and had a little chat with the ladies up stair about marrying a Colombian and staying in Colombia for an extended period of time.
IT SEEMS THE LAWS ARE CHANGING!!
As of March a foriegner will no longer need to apply for a "Spouse Visa" from outside Colombia! You will be able to enter Colombia on a "Visitors or Tourist Visa" and Marry your Colombian in Colombia with No problems. You will then be granted a two year Spouse vi ...

I have been living in Colombia with mi Novio and stayed the max 6months you can stay on a tourist visa, so prior to my visa expiring I went to find out my options.

I was wondering if any of you know a good service that takes around two weeks to send stuff to my family in N.Z and Australia from Bogota. I decided it would be good for my Spanish to work with the help of friends and family translating material and so when ARROZ posted " translator work in Bogota" up on this site, I emailed the guy. His name is actually "Andrew Rice" to ask him to give me a chance by sending me a sample.
The sample I recieved was a sorrid two page smutt piece about a Colombian prostitute who likes to have at least 4 men at a time and had graphic detail out lining unrealistic yet perverted scenes.
Now these questions will grosse a few of you out, but I need to know!!!!!!!So if you don´t think you can handle the heat don´t read the questions...
1. Why are they so shallow that when you flush them they almost over flow?
2. What are you supposed to do with your used toliet paper? (in the womens toilets the waste basket next to the bowl is always full)
3. If you want to flush your paper how do you stop the toilet from blocking?

Recently on friday the 1st of Oct the Colombian Govt decided to change the law without bothering to tell anyone. They changed the law from drink responsibly when driving, to do not drink at all.
Mi Novio and I were returning home from a farewell get together that was in the snazzy nightclub district of Bogota, when we were pulled over by a police road block. The officer greeted mi novio with a handshake and friendly tones, before asking him if he had been drinking at all.

The party I just wrote about was in Bogota, at a place called El Potico in Auto Pista Norte for those of you interested in checking out the venue, its usually a normal restaraunt and would be worth the vist as its a great place. ...
This weekend gone mi novios took me to a party called El encuento Paisa. It was fantastic fun and I thought you´d all be interested in hearing about it. The venue was stunning and looked like an authenticold town.(Ill show you all the pix when I process them)

Well today was fantastic! I finally talked my over protective Colombian Novio into taking me to the old charming part of Bogota to take some black and white pictures.
The wheather was perfect and when we arrived at this little cafe which i love, an old tram converted into a cafe there was a little festival happening in the carpark opposite.
There were Colombian women wearing old sytle coulorful dresses dancing and singing on stage and a group of army guys playing and singi ...

Im living in Colombia for a year and ive been here for four months.
My Colombian boyfriend who i adore doesn´t want me going exploring on my own because he says that im an obvious target to be robbed, harrassed, or kidnapped. He has kind of put the fear of god into me.He has taken me to heaps of great places and spoils me to no end.
My problem is im going a bit stir crazy! I learn more spanish from the lady who gives me a manicure than I do at home, cause everyone speaks english. ...
My problem is fairly minor in the scheme of the worlds latest events. But ill give it a shot. Ive been in Colombia 4 mths and i have seen alot, Honda, Melgar, the old part of Bogota and the flash bits and the drab bits, The coin mint art museum (Awsome! can i move in there?), a night out at Andrea´s de Carne and a trip to Medellin.

I am a women from Australia who objects to the men who are using this site to advertise ways to snare a "trophy" I can see that there are alot of genuine guys who totally respect and love thier Colombian women (I saw your pix)
But for those of you who have suddenly turned this site into a place FULL of crap jokes and dodgy site references, please get over your desperate selves and grow some dignity. The women you want will only use you for a visa or money and as soon as they ...
A) Be a 12 year old girl
OR
B) Drive into a clever detour that sends you right into the path of a little green fraggle wearing a transit vest and holding a fine book.
I have been in Colombia for 2mths with my amazing Colombian boyfriend and I am really starting to get the hang of things now, everything except the roads and the motorbike riding transit guys who patrol them.
The roads here are pretty much chaos, when your not dodging pot holes the size of tasmania, y ...
Firstly I want to say this web site is fantastic and thanks to Peter and everyone who submits stories, now down to my question...
Im Australian and travelled to Colombia to be with my Boyfriend who's visa had finished in Australia. We had been together for a year in OZ but only living together for a few months so we couldn´t apply for a defacto visa together. We have a year ticket together and we are trying to collect any kind of material proving that we are still together in order ...
Hi Everyone,
I have just gone through the exhaustive experience of trying to find a school that suited my needs, interest and Visa requirments for Colombia.
The spanish language courses I could affoard like the national University were not long enough for Colombian studnet visa requirments as they want a minimum of six months.
I really wanted to study something id use in life and not just waste my time and money on. But almost all the course were a minimum of $1000 US which ...
