I'm sorry dibbs That sucks, i was going to do the samething you did, take out money from my bank account in Barranquilla, but thank God my dad told me the tellers usually know "people" and they send these people to rob you. I just came back from Barranquilla and i had a good time but people know you don't live there no matter how much you want to dress and look like everybody else. It could happen to anybody so don't feel bad, it wasn't your fault, some guy around where i was staying got robbed, he had 5 million pesos and he lives in Barranquilla so i don't know what was the deal with him, how are you supposed to get your money out of the bank? if you can't trust the tellers, one more time I'm sorry for the bad experience take care and be safe.

robi666 "Sometimes gringo's color is green, nothing else." agree with you on that too, some people or should i say a lot of people would tell you otherwise. But just be careful and if you just want to get laid do it here, why go so far. But not only colombian's are racist my black friend and I used to get dirty looks from the black folks, like he was doing something wrong or like i stole something valuable from them.

is more of social aceptance true, I have a black friend and my mom though I was dating him I had to explain to her that we were just friends. So since family is very important to Colombians it's not easy to date a black man in colombia. But while I lived in Barranquilla I saw people dating black men, my cousins don't have dark skin but they married black men and had kids with them, so it all depends on their family and the individual.

I agree with you robi666 "To the OP: yes, a lot of colombianas has got problems to date black men. On the coast too." That's so true but you can find plenty of good women that would be more then happy to date any good men no matter what their color skin is.
"You're from USA, so you're not that black. Especially if you show some money! ;-)" lol ay Dios mio if you're looking for that kind of woman, good luck, you should talk with Dan and see what he has to say about that. But is very true some Colombian's can be very racist but you find that everywhere.

that's so funny, no gay people in colombia there are some colombians that would take money from gay people to have sex with them, I knew some of these "men" when i lived in Colombia, in my eyes they are bisexual or gays as well or just male prostitutes or all of it. But in general Colombian accept the gay people,now if the family accept them, that's another story.
I remember this gay guy that used to dress all crazy and put on make-up and the guys used to scream "loca" and make fun of him, he used to get so angry and cursed at them, hasta les tiraba piedras.

I agree with that,I can't stand people that are always complaining, and are never happy, no matter how much they have or how good their lives are, they always find something to complaint about. My husband calls me an optimistic, I think I like to see the good things rather then focus on the bad and this is thanks to my mom and Colombia. By the way I don't want to move back to Colombia, I'm happy in NY, I love New York and there are good and bad, just like in Colombia. When I find a study about how many Colombians are moving in and how many are moving back I'll give my opinion.

Morphus, I have plenty of pic's But I don't give out my pic anymore, I'm done with that. My husband wouldn't like me sharing my pic in the Internet. I was out with him one time when we begging dating and some weird guy came over to the table and asked: are you sweetg? wow, you're Colombian right? and I had to hear the you look like your pic crap and I didn't want to interrupt, while my date was sitting there looking at me. So I don't give out my pic, I don't want you to recognize me in the street and interrupt my meal.

GL, You're funny I don't have any complaints about the way I look, I like my body to be toned, that's why I work out. Big muscles are nice too, I had a friend that was a bodybuilder and it was intimidating but you he made you feel safe.

that's one part about colombia that I don't like, it breaks my heart to see these kids in the streets asking for money and sniffing the shoe glue, that gets me depressed and angry at the same time. I was advised not to give them money so I usually buy them food, but its so much you can do. How do you deal with that? I'm going to Colombia in a few months and I'm thinking that last time I was there, I was very upset about this.

lol, that's funny alleycat Colombian women are different and unique that's why that thread went that far. And they like older, mature men and they're not into looks.So now the gym, that's a good subject, I go to the gym 3 times a week for one hour, the rest of the week I try to walk a lot. But boys and girls in colombia like to look good and take care of their bodies, nothing wrong with that.

If I feel that's the only way to get rid of him/her i might do it, these women are too scared and it's not about revenge in most cases is about true fear for their lives and their kids lives. Some of these men would go after their wife and kill her and her kids or kill the kids just to teach her a lesson. Most of these women were weak and with selfesteem problems before they got into this type of relationships, If you're an abuser you're not going to get with me, because I'll cut your balls off and eat them for breakfast if you try that hitting crap on me or my kid, I'm half joking, but there are signs for these kind of behavior before the abuse starts. I have three friends(non job related, this is way before I work with DV) that explained to me that they felt like they were in a black hole and there was no way out. They got hit in the street in front of their kids and they felt worthless. DV is very complicated.

I love scarface, Colombian and drugs, I get offended when I tell people I'm colombian and first thing that comes out of their dirty mouth is " yeah a lot of cocaine" si pendejo por que tu te la andas metiendo por la nariz. And it's not only gringos, latinos too, which of course I get offended because not everybody in Colombia deals with drugs, there are a lot of people that deal with drugs, and of course Colombia is known for the drug trafficking, but what about the other countries? Colombia it's not the only one.

This was a long time ago I once got into an argument with un costeño,that tried to hit me, I had a book and hit him so hard that I broke his mouth,after that his brother took him away and I though about calling the cops on him, I was with my mom and my little brother, good thing I didn't because I would got arrested. By the way that same guy use to hit his wife and she was there, telling him to hit me.

If you are in an abusive relationship Why would you stay? good question, women sometime think there's no way out and they're so scared for their life that they think no matter where they go the abuser will find them, they decide to stay. Others are used to that kind of behavior because their father was an abuser, they think is normal.
