swedish_girl comments on colombians and bathing....

i found colombians to be bathing freaks like americans

even in cold bogota poor people that didnt have hot water, they would boil water in their stoves and bathe

and in the coast too, they all bathed twice a day, maybe coz it's hot

i think colombians are clean people, of course there might be exceptions, but higyene wise, colombians are a lot cleaner than MANY EUROPEANS, AND I AM EUROPEAN

swedish_girl comments on i have been in Colombia for 36 days and 3 crimes have been committed to my wives family

i was in colombia for 15 days, and i went out late at night with my friends in medellin, they were colombian of course

and nothing ever happened to me

we all had a good time!!

well in choco i saw nice beaches

and yes compared to what europeans call beaches, colombian beaches are awesome

look at the beaches we have in europe!! england beaches, are cold rainy, full or rocks, the water is FREEZING

the cote de azur in france is crowded, the water is polluted, and overpriced, and full of snobs

spain is overrated, i think colombia has way better beaches than spain

italian beaches are nothing outta this world either, lots of pollution, and expensive

the best beaches in europe are in portugal and greece

and of course in escandinavia, go to the beach and die frozen!!!

swedish_girl comments on A Normal Day

i agree with the guy that claims colombia is not so poor

yeah it might look poor if u look at it from the materialistic way, where every one owns a car, and every one has their own laptop, and a giant tv etc.

but i have been to africa, and colombia is relatively rich compared to africa

yeah in colombia people dont have as much material possesions, but material stuff is not necessARY TO BE HAPPY

colombians are a lot happier than swedish people, we have a high suicide rate, while colombia's suicidal rate is ridiculously low

and swedish are way richer than colombians

swedish_girl comments on A Normal Day

the average day for the average colombian family (where i stayed)

the sons wake up around 7 am, one ready to go to school, the other one ready to go to her univeristy

mom has the breakfast ready, delicious arepas, with manquetille or however u spell it
chocolate yummy
a bit of cheese, bonuelos

the oldest daughter is a single mom ,so the baby is asleep

dad is working

they have breakfast, mom cleans the house, and she takes care of the baby while her daughter is at school

mom and baby watch the soap opera, then mom talks to her neighbor (friendly conversation with the housewife next door)

then around noon, every one is back from school, lunch is ready, they all have lunch (sancocho yummy), while watching the news.

the the daughter gets dressed, and goes out with the baby and the baby's daddy

mom gets dressed and go visit her mom (families are close in colombia)

and teenage son goes play football with his pals

then around 4 pm dad comes home, the dinner is ready, but not served yet

they all talked about their days, if it's a weekday every one stays home, watches tv, or goes for a walk (they dont own a car, that is why they are thin and nice looking).
then come home before dinner, and if it's the weekend, the children and even mom and dad, get all dressed, and go party like there is no tomorrow!!!

drink a bit of aguardiente, with their friends, dance a bit of salsa, or whatever music, stay up until 4 am, talking to their friends and family, and go to sleep, to get up on sunday ready to go to church

colombians live very easy, is a relaxed lifestyle, which is actually good.

no rush, no money obssesion, kinda like ameirca was back in the 50's.

people just live day by day, which is what made me like colombia so much.

colombia has potential, let's all hope the guerrilla problems get solved.
northern colombia has the potential to become a world class tourist destination, lots of nice beaches, interesting local culture, especially cartagena, tolu are interesting cities to visit.
and other places like guajira would be excellent for the type of tourist that loves nature

the pacific coast in colombia is also nice, u can surf there, nice waves, and ecotourism too, they have the darien jungle, which im sure many eco tourists would love visiting

then you have central colombia, medellin, bogota, cali, the type of urban tourist would go there, also the coffee region is gorgeous, and many would love to visit

and the jungle too, the amazon for eco tourism would rules

the sad thing that would happen, is that colombia would be swept

by drunk europeans
drunk americans
japanese taking pictures
horny bastards from europe and north america chasing colombian girls

it would lose a lot of its unique charm

it would become a second spain, spain back in the day was nice, a place to explore, to leanr from

nowadays spain is nothing but a gigantic resort!! where u find 10 toursits and 1 spaniard.

swedish_girl comments on Hispanic

hispanic / latino is an american terminology, to be honest with you, to me colombians are simply colombians, racially speaking colombians go from a blonde hair blue eyed swedish looking paisa, to a black sudanese looking chocoano, and everything in between, so racially speaking colombians are a beautiful rainbow of colors.

culturally speaking, you go from the westernized, quiet, boring bogotanos, to the loud happy, salsa dancing vallunos, to the more africanized chocoanos, to the indigenous pastusos, to the caribbean costenos, so culturally speaking they are not a culture either, but many cultures in one single country.

the only thing colombians have in common among them is the language, and that changes too, because a costeno speaks very different from a paisa, and that pretty much applies to all the regions.

so to me colombians are colombians, i think hispanic is a US term and it's very innacurate, and for some reason i find the term to reflect more mexican culture, due to the huge mexican influence in america, rather than colombian culture.

when i went back to sweden from colombia, i was asked by a friend of mine, if i danced a lot of samba, with the cariocas!!! in rio de janeiro!!! he probably think all of south america is brazil!! LOL

swedish_girl comments on first time in colombia, need a cheap place to stay and probably a job

you can easily become an english teacher, this is what I did during my stay in Medellin.
and plenty of cheap hostels around as well
so no need to worry
