susanita tien un raton comments on Searching for a job in Bogota

finding a job hello thur
yes your right, it's not easy to find a decent job. i guess you know that you can try to start to teach english or maybe even german (of you speak it like so many of you) or dutch. have you tried to contact the dutch embassy for adresses and connections? or try to find a ngo in holland, who works with international projects. it took me a year of struggling after being lucky and finding a good job. good luck! s

susanita tien un raton comments on Desierto de Tatacoa

san augustin hello naranja
i haven't been to the desierto de tatacoa, but to san augustin. you can easily travel there independently. there are direct bus connections from bogota and sure from other places too. san augustin is small and you can find acommodation when arriving (we spent our nights in "hotel gambi"- cost us 20´000COP/night). i would advice you to do a guided tour through the archeological park (it's worth it). if you fancy horse riding you can find nice, short or long trips. and if you like fish, go and visit the "anancaona" hotel where they serve lovely smoked "mojarra" and you can have a siesta in the hammock with a great view. have fun.

susanita tien un raton comments on TRIP ARROUND BOGOTA FOR 10 days ?

many places to see Hi
I would really recommend you to go to Villa de Leiva (nice little village where you can do horse riding, go to the great big market on saturday morning and have lovely food in several places. Have heard that Racira should also be very nice. Paipa is okay, but rather cool. Bogota itself has nice places to go to. Shouldn't miss la Candelaria (old town) if you ask me, if you like nice coffee shops and theaters. And last but not least you should see the salt cathedral (am sure you can find the details in the guide). Have fun- and do lots of salsa, it's great.
Regards

susanita tien un raton comments on Has anyone ever been to MELGAR? or COTA?

Hi there
Yes, indeed Melgar (I only know this place) is very nice, especially because of the hot temperature. It's about 3 hours busdrive away from Bogotá and offers nice 30 degrees. The place itself is quite frequently visited by people from Bogotá on the puentes (long week-ends) as it's not too far to go to. If you're someone, who enjoys some relaxing days at the pool then this is the place to go to. But don't expect any historical sites. Safety wise it's like anywhere else. Use common sense and you will be perfectly alright.
